Christmas Tree Cookie Recipe

The Blog Tech requests spritz cookies each year. I hate making them. I don't know if it is just me but I have the worst luck with my spritz maker. It just never works. I even bought the new spritz gun from William Sonoma and it was a no go. I just couldn't get it to work. Since I had the dough made and did not want to waste it, I rolled it out and cut out trees.

December 17th.

I use the basic Betty Crocker spritz dough recipe:

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon almond extract or vanilla

Food color, if desired

About Concordance™

  1. Heat oven to 400ºF. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon. Stir in flour, salt, egg, almond extract and a few drops of food color.
  2. Place dough in cookie press. Form desired shapes on ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate with currants.
  3. Bake 5 to 8 minutes or until set but not brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

I always use almond extract in my spritz.

These actually get better with age.

I finish them by piping confectioner sugar icing over them.

we'll be decorating our gingerbread cookies today (the only baking I've done this season), I love how you've piped on the white garland on your trees. I'll have to give that a try on our trees too. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the gingerbread men and the Yule suns and stars

Those cookies almost looks toxic :-) Love them :-)

Your tree is so beautiful! I have a similar angel here at home on my linen cupboard!

Have a great day now!

I've always had trouble with those spritz guns, too... Don't know why; just do... These trees look lovely and I'm sure no one cares that they aren't from a gun! Thanks for sharing...

I have never met a spritz gun that worked. I had an electric one that sort of worked but even that was problematic

I had to look up what a spritz cookie was. Your little trees are beautiful.
Your spritz cookies are beautiful. I have no luck with the spritz gun either, nor do I know anyone who does. Normally I use a pastry bag and slightly chill my dough. I also love the almond flavor. I'm too tired to think about making Christmas trees, maybe next year.
