The Best Sandwich Bread

This is just really good bread. What else can I say? It makes 5 loaves and freezes beautifully.

Sorry, had to throw in the most recent wreath!

Pour 3 cups of water into the bowl of your mixer.

Add 2 T. instant rise yeast.

Add 1 T. of salt. This seems like a lot but remember you are making 5 loaves.

Add 1/2 cup of sugar.

Add 1/2 cup of canola oil.

Add 4 cups of all-purpose flour.

Add 1/2 cup of vital wheat gluten.

Add 3-4 cups of whole wheat flour. Knead until you have a smooth dough that pulls away from the side of your mixing bowl.

Spread some melted butter in the bottom of a bowl and swirl it around to coat the bowl.

Place the ball of dough in the bowl and turn it over to coat with butter.

Cover with plastic wrap and set it in a warm place to rise.

It is a good idea to split the dough and place it in two bowls so it does not run over the edge when it rises. I place mine in my oven and set it on proof to rise.

Once the dough rises, split it into 5 equal pieces and place them in buttered bread pans. Let them rise until they are cresting the top of the pans.

Bake them at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes until they are golden brown. You can brush the tops with butter if you want to. I wrap the extra loaves in foil and freeze them.

Thank you! I shared this on my FB wall, Blessings Jaja
Your bread looks fabulous. I think I'll make some into mini loaves also.
What kind of mixer is that? I've never seen anything quite like it.

Your wreath is beautiful! Wish I had the artistic talent that you do!
There's nothing like the smell of fresh baked bread! Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe! Have a great day!

This looks very good. I may have to try this and leave out the Vital Wheat Gluten. I know that helps bread to rise but maybe I could make up for that in yeast or time?

Is this truly an egg-free, dairy-free bread? Awesome! My 1 year old can't have either. This recipe looks like a breeze... I'll try it this weekend! Thanks Jaz!

Proof. Hmmmm. What is that temperature? I have 170 for keep warm. That is as low as my oven goes. My hubby and I were talking about how to make bread rise when it is only 65 in your house and 30 outside.
Sharing this great bread on my Wednesday and wandering post! Thanks so much.
