Save this one for next year! Or make it today. I am a soda bread connoisseur having spent so much time in Ireland. And I have eaten a lot of awful soda bread. If you love soda bread this is the recipe for you. If you hate soda bread, this is also the recipe for you. And it could not be easier. I was given this recipe years ago from a friend that attended Ballymaloe Cookery School.
Mix this all together until you have a smooth liquid. With the mixer running, add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 3 T. melted butter.
Add 3/4 cup of flour and as the mixer is running, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Make sure your baking soda date has not expired.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about an hour. Check for doneness by sticking a toothpick in the middle. When it comes out clean, it is done.
