My daughter and I baked our favorite sugar cookies over the weekend.
If you want to give these a go, start by adding 1 cup of softened butter to 2 cups of sugar. Beat until fluffy.
Add 2 eggs.
And 2 8 oz. cans of almond paste.
Add 2 teaspoons of almond extract.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 2 teaspoons of baking powder. Put the paddle attachment on your mixer and beat in 4 cups of flour.
Place scoops the size of walnuts on parchment covered cookie sheets and bake them at 350 degrees for about 18 minutes.
Cool on racks.
Make this frosting and spread on the top of each cooled cookie:
4 cups confectioners sugar
1/2 stick of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 tablespoons of milk
Sprinkle with colored sugar to finish.
