Patty Melts

Who doesn't like a classic patty melt?

They are so simple to make and kids love them.  Press some ground beef into oval patties, sprinkle them with salt, pepper and granulated onion.

Spread rye bread with some Dijon mustard.

After the patties are done, add a sliced large onion to the pan and cook until browned.

Place a slice of cheddar and a slice of havarti on each piece of bread.  You can use whichever cheeses you like.

Brush the outside of the bread with butter and cook them like you would a grilled cheese.

Make sure they brown on each side.

Peal them apart.

Add onions to one side and a patty to the other.

Press them together and serve with some pickles, homemade if you have them.

LOVE the onion, havarti and dijon on them. GREAT idea. How do you come up with these things. You need to do a cookbook.

It is 9 pm in Anchorage as I read this post. I just got home from tennis and wish I had a patty melt waiting for me (instead of the 6 cookies and candies I just ate!)
