This is how I used the cabbage bread I posted the other day. These are seriously the best roast beef sandwiches ever.
Heavily season a roast of your choice. I used a 3 lb. round roast and seasoned it with salt, pepper, thyme and granulated garlic.
Then sprinkle it with some flour.
Pour some oil in a heavy pot and heat it on medium high.
Sear the roast on all sides until it forms a golden crust.
Some of the ingredients you will need.
Remove the roast from the pot and place on a plate.
Add 1 bottle of beer to the pot drippings. I used a Belgian ale.
Add 3 heaping tablespoons of tomato paste.
Add 4 cups of beef broth.
Add 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce. Whisk this all together.
Place the roast in your slow cooker. Add 3 sliced carrots, 1 large diced onion and 3 sliced stalks of celery.
Pour in the liquid and add 3 bay leaves and some fresh herbs. I used rosemary, thyme and sage.
Add 2 tablespoons of Maggi.
Add 1 tub of Knorr's condensed beef stock.
Add a few tablespoons of beef demi glace.
Set your cooker on low and the timer for 8 hours.
Mmmmmm.
Remove the roast to a cutting board.
Slice it into very thin pieces.
Puree the sauce with a stick blender. Cook it over medium heat until it begins to thicken. Enrich with 2 tablespoons of butter.
Return the meat to the sauce.
Serve it with fresh tomatoes from the garden.
Perfect on the cabbage bread.
The Blog Tech really loved them.
A roast beef sandwich and the Olympics makes for a very happy Blog Tech.
* Thank you for all the comments on my last post. I know it would make Kary happy. I think we can all agree that the last thing any of us would want is to have someone we haven't spoken to in years walking around your house and taking photos a couple days after we died. There is no excuse for that. I don't use my blog to post about bad things that happen in life but sometimes you just have to out the bad guys.

heh
I'm trying ti find a store that sells slow cookers but I can't find anyone even remotely close to me so I simply have to buy it from a web shop.
I've never done a roast beef sandwich like this but I must try it!
Have a great day!
Christer.

You don't think SL will have the nerve to go to Kary's Memorial on the 25th. Even she has more class than that I hope.
