A new favorite. Brown bread molasses rolls served with shaved cheese and honeycomb.
Pour 1 C. of water into the bowl of your mixer. Add 5 tsp. of rapid rise yeast, 1 egg, 2 T. softened butter, 1/4 C. honey, 3 T. molasses, 2 T. baking cocoa, 1 tsp. salt and 1/4 C. dark brown sugar. Mix it all together. |
Add 2 C. all purpose flour. Then add 2 C. whole wheat flour. You might need a bit more. Mix until it forms a smooth ball. |
Place the dough in a buttered bowl, cover it and let it rise for about 90 minutes. |
Form it into a log and cut it into 15 pieces. |
Butter an oblong pan. Form the dough into rolls, place them in the pan, cover it and let them rise for about an hour.
Bake them at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. |
This is shaved crucolo cheese and double gloucester. The shaved cheese melts when placed on the hot rolls. If you haven't eaten honeycomb you really should give it a try. It is delicious eaten with cheese.
