A Pioneer Festival

We went to a pioneer festival last Saturday.

The Red Hat Society ladies jumped the line but no one complained.  They can be a gnarly group, ha ha! You can read about them here:   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Hat_Society
Most participants were dressed in period attire.

 There they are again!

Even pioneers need their morning cup.

 Cutting boards.

 A blacksmith.

Wreaths made from custom dried flowers.

 Oils and vinegar.

This woman will cut your silhouette for you.

Pan for gems.
I'll show more tomorrow but this was a very nice fair in a very nice setting.

the fairs that are set in the woods are so unique and unusual to me , we have nothing like them here and I would love to see one,, the period dress adds to the flavor of the whole event,,

I love fairs. We have a Trade Days October Pecan Fest on the 24th of Oct coming up. October Trade Days is always the best. There will be a car show, an old shoot out near the court house, and of course, all the cool booths. I can't wait.

Looks like a fair I would love to go to! We never have things like that here and I wonder why we are so boring.
It is always fun to watch a black smith in action.

Have a great day!
Christer.

I tried to be a Red Hat Lady once. Didn't last very long!:-) This looks like an amazing fair. We attended Greekfest here last week, but rain kept us home from another one the next day.

Oh, and happy October!
These Fairs never cease to amaze me. Nothing in California like that. We have those HUGE Fairs all crowded together with 4-H animals on display, plants..and so on. Farris Wheels (sp?) Fortune Tellers..but nothing like yours. It's been years since I've been to one. Hot and dusty.
A good friend joined the Red Hat club, went to two meetings and dropped out. I wonder what their purpose is? I mean besides line cutting. :)
