Hot Sauce

This has been the best summer for pepper growing. I've had a bumper crop and have been making all sorts of sauces with them.  Yesterday I made this hot sauce and it is simple and terrific.

All you do is remove the stems from about 18 jalapeno peppers.  I only had 12, so I added a few poblanos and a red pepper.  You don't need to seed them, just cut them in half and throw them in the pot. Add 2 cups of white vinegar, 2 tsp. of salt and 6 cloves of garlic.  Bring this to a boil and then simmer for about an hour.

Transfer everything in the pot to a food processor and blend until pureed.

Return the puree to the pot and simmer for 30 minutes.  If it is too thick, thin it with more vinegar.
That's all there is to it and you end up with a very flavorful bottle of your own hot sauce.

It would have been a lousy year for peppers here, it just was too cold this summer. So I'll have to continue buying mine :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

It is a bit autumnal here for hot, spicy food, but I'd love to try this one anyway.

Gracious! I never even thought you could make your own hot sauce. That's amazing!

perfect timing, the peppers we took to Kentucky are doing very well, we have Black Hungarian, Santa Fe, Craig's Grande and Pasilla Bajio so this recipe will put them to good use. Thank you.

Happy September Joyce...my you have had such a busy summer...I have enjoyed reading about your field trips, traveling the countryside with the blog tech...and of course drooling over all your wonderful recipes...I hope Miss Teddy is doing well, you mentioned in a prior post she was a bit under the weather...hope your home repairs are complete... I have a bumper crop of peppers too, especially banana peppers...any suggestions for their use? pickles? Thanks...Sending greetings from Dog Trot Farm, Julie...
Hi Joyce! This is amazing! Another must try. I live across the street from and lovely Hispanic couple and little girl. She is always bringing me dishes she has made..and I've learned from her. But she is now hooked on your chili recipe. I can't wait to see what she thinks of this recipe.

It's hot here ...again. Miserable, and I am disappointed!
I still have not started my Fall decorating. How is the work coming along on the house. Should have written an email!! :)
