Artichokes

I love artichokes so when I walked into my local market and saw huge ones on sale for 99 cents each, I bought 10 of them.  Then I made them the way we most enjoy them.  I boiled them whole in lemon pepper seasoned water.  You can buy the seasoning or make your own.  Add salt to the water either way.  When the artichokes are done, turn them upside down on towels and let them drain thoroughly.  Cut each one in half and remove the choke.  drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with cracked black pepper and sea salt. Fire up your grill and cook the artichokes cut size down until they are seared.

Serve them with some melted butter for dipping.

Better yet, serve them with melted ramp butter.  Everything is better with ramps!

I don't think I've ever eaten an artichoke. My life is obviously incomplete.

I love artichokes but balk at the usual way of cooking them. This may make me turn the corner. If only I had ramp butter...or ramp anything...

Those definitely look delicious! I tried them once, the way you describe serving them and I just couldn't get myself to like them though.

I have actually never eaten artichokes, only Jerusalem artichokes and that's something completely different. Perhaps I should try it at least once :-)

Have a great day!

Christer.

I love artichokes. I make a really nice pasta with feta cheese, fresh cherry tomatoes and artichokes.

I love artichokes, I have only had them out of a jar. Remove the choke? What is the choke? With the canned or jarred artichokes, I make a wonderful dip. Finally, I just ate them out of the jar. I really loved artichokes at that point. I do drain to get the vinegar taste out. So, what is the choke that needs to be removed?

the choke is the prickly part in the middle. "they might have choked arty but they ain't gonna choke me"....the little rascals.
