Cooking for the Kids

Yesterday was the last day of the after school program.  Woohoo!  I'm on summer vacation!  I have the whole summer to figure out how to tackle this next fall if the program doesn't get cut by Mr. Tangerine Man.  For now, I am just going to enjoy not cooking for 50 people each day.  Not to mention the shopping.  I got an email from my grocery store yesterday telling me to check out what's on sale next week and I deleted it.  Ha! That felt good. I wanted to send the kids off with one last good meal so I made BBQ sauce.  They love anything with BBQ sauce on it.

I made them BBQ'd smoked sausage bites.

And their other favorite, mac and cheese.

I had a stash of girl scout cookies and Oreo's that they were happy to see.

I bought too much candy for the Easter baskets I made this year and the kids were happy to polish it off for me. I look forward to a relaxed summer of normal cooking.

That candy basket looks sinfully delicious!

I am sure you will enjoy the break, but you must be worried about what they will be eating all summer. I am sure they will be missing you!

It is sad that 45 does not want to care about the most vunerable among us. You see first hand how hungry these kids are and the importance of this after school program. I hope you will use your summer off to let your representatives and 45 know just how valuable this program is to these children before the GOP slashes from the budget in Sept.

Not only has food been taken from the most vulnerable but now their health care. Is there no more shame or sensibility left? My heart breaks for the poor of America. Here in Canada we can hang our heads in shame over the treatment of our indigenous people. Thank you for doing what you have done. You're an example to all of us.

What a perfect send off! Somehow I doubt you will have a lot of time on your hands this summer....
Those kids are going to talk about you..for a long, long time, remembering full tummies..food cooked with love is always better..and I bet they felt it. The good thing about summer is that FALL is next!

Wow, the food looks so yummy and tasty. After seeing the food photo I cannot resist my tongue. Very good captured along with the editing work as it seems so mouthwatering. Anyways, which camera did you use to capture it? I’m also working with an eCommerce Image editing platform for the editing kind of kinds of stuff. Anyways very good sharing; please keep posting more. I’ll definitely visit your blog again. eCommerce-image-editing-services
