This bread is so good and so easy to make that I don't know why everyone doesn't make it. It is a staple around my house. It makes great French toast too.
My new sourdough starter is looking good and healthy. I am going to make this bread using the starter when it is ready.
Day 3 of feeding the starter. It gets 1/2 C. of all purpose flour.
And 1/2 C. of bottled water. Stir to incorporate, cover with plastic and sit it in a warm place for another 24 hours. Feed it this way for a week to 10 days before using it to get a true sourdough flavor. Store the remaining starter in a loosely covered jar in your fridge and feed weekly.
Winnie got groomed. She looks like the Bichon Frise that just won the Westminster Dog Show! She got a bad do! Look how they shaved her butt!
A black tongue pic.
Now she is giving me a raspberry!
I have to tell the groomer not to clip her so much the next time. Look how her schnozzle is turning brown. My little girl is growing up. I need to decide about getting her spayed. I have always had my dogs spayed at around 6 months. Now they are recommending spaying at 16 months. When do you spay or neuter your dogs?
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 and 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp dry yeast
- 1 and 1/2 cup warm water
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, salt and yeast. Add water and stir just until incorporated. Do not overmix. The dough will be shaggy.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let sit on the counter, at room temperature for 8 to 24 hours. The dough will rise and have lots of air bubbles.
- The next day, lightly flour a piece of parchment paper. Place dough onto paper. With floured hands, shape into a ball. Cover with plastic wrap.
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Adjust rack to lower position. Place Dutch oven inside. Preheat for 30 minutes.
- When oven is ready, carefully place the parchment paper with dough inside the Dutch oven. Cover with Dutch oven lid and bake for 45 minutes. Remove lid and bake 30-40 minutes more or until the top is golden brown, has cracks. Internal temperature should be 190 degrees.
- Carefully remove Dutch oven from oven. Remove parchment paper with bread and place on a wooden cutting board. Let cool completely.

I must admit that I did think Winnie looked a bit odd today :-) :-) but as said before, it grows out again :-)
Have a great day!
Christer.
I make no knead bread about 2-3 times a week! I love it. The only difference is that mine goes into the fridge overnight. I'll never buy bread again! :)
She is growing up sooo fast.
Was part of the 'Trap & Spay' program for feral cats for a year. All female cats trapped were spayed except for nursing mothers & young kittens because cats can have a litter by 6 months & produce litters three times a year.
