Autumn in the Country

More color in the mountains now.  However, I heard that we might not see good colors this Fall due to our extended drought. I will wait and see.

More and more houses are decorated for Halloween.  People seem to decorate more in the country than they do in the city.

On our weekly trip, we drive through one classic little American town after another.

Vintage cars are a big deal in this area.

An old wooden cabin turned into a home.

And then we see our first true signs of Fall.....a riot of pumpkins!

All of the farm markets have huge boxes of produce for sale at very good prices.  It's canning season.  Time to 'put up', as it is known around here.

Pumpkins and gourds and squash, oh my!

 Cornstalks for sale.

All of these country markets hold Fall festivals with lots of activities for kids.

An old wooden John Deer wagon.

There are still lots of pumpkins in the fields.

 Hay is being bailed.

The mennonite children are back in school.

One of our favorite markets had their giant pumpkins out front.

I bought some beautiful large mums.

And the fields change once again.

Fall is upon us and soon these fields will be covered with snow.
