Cocktail Sauce

I'm having a rather fancy dinner party on Sunday and am making a rich French meal.  I like to offer appetizers during cocktail hour but I need to serve something on the light side since the dinner is so heavy. I thought that shrimp cocktails would be perfect.  Who doesn't like a delicious, fresh shrimp cocktail.  Okay, maybe some of you don't, but they always remind me of the decadent meals at fancy restaurants and country clubs back in the 70's.

The secret is a good homemade cocktail sauce which is so very easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup chili garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Add the ketchup, chili garlic sauce, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and hot sauce in a bowl.
  2. Whisk together the ingredients until combined.
  3. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Or you could just serve these!

I love that Blues Bros gif. Shrimp cocktail is my favorite appetizer and I have always looked for a good sauce and I know I can trust yours to be awesome.
Do you have an extra seat at your Sunday dinner table?

I don't think I've ever eaten shrimp cocktails, I think I would have remembered if I had though :-) Looks delicious though!

Have a great day!

Sounds like a yummy, just spicy enough sauce. My mum used to be quite fond of a thousand islands kind of dipping sauce that had ketchup, chili, mayonnaise and I believe some relish as well. It was pink and it tasted bland, like ketchup watered down (so to speak) with mayonnaise would. I hated it, but mum always insisted to have this sauce as dipping sauce, because "everybody likes it". I much preferred then and now mayonnaise with curry powder for dipping vegs. But for shrimps, I'd go for yours.
