4Th of July Weekend

Well, it's 4th of July weekend.  A Quarantine 4th.  Just as everything was starting to open and things were up and running, we have shut down once again.  In our area, it is due to several things.  First and foremost, as soon as we entered the green phase, people pretended the virus was behind us and went out in mass without wearing masks.  Dumb, dumb, stupid!  Another reason is that as soon as bars opened, people packed into them. A third reason is that people ran to the beaches, did not practice social distancing and came back and breathed...without masks.  BINGO!  So, we are all back in hiding because face it, that virus is just sitting out there looking for hosts.  It's a shame you can't look out your window and see it because that would be a great deterrent.  If you looked out your window and saw swarms of murder hornets, I bet you wouldn't go outside.
On top of all of this, we are having killer, hot, dry weather.  We are looking at 90+ weather for weeks with no rain in sight.  So, I am dreaming of Fall.

Unfortunately, there is not much scheduled for Fall this year.

Festivals are canceled and I'm not sure I want to chance death for a pumpkin.....well, maybe not!

 But I will decorate profusely.

And I certainly will enjoy cooler weather when it arrives.

And I will whip up Fall treats for all of my friends.  I am proving them with 4th of July party food which will be dropped off on their porches.  And they sure are excited to receive it.  Anything to break up the monotony.

I haven't broken the news to them yet that Thanksgiving probably won't be happening.  Thirty people elbow to elbow might never happen again in my lifetime, certainly not this year.

So, I will spend evenings watching all of my favorite Fall movies.

And hoping a vaccine is discovered sooner rather than later.

And hoping that people finally wake up to what this virus is all about.  It's NOT going away.

I have to ask what is so difficult about wear a mask? Really they probably all wear seatbelts! This is not about YOU is is about us older people who would like to keep living! YOU meant them not you of course. I think if we see actually see the virus in the air we would all be in hiding. I have been thinking about Thanksgiving this year, I do not host but I am leaning to not attending DIL's house. Christmas is here and I am thinking let's just give 2020 a miss. Love all the Fall photos, it is so hot out. Take care.

It sucks because the best time of the year is starting and we can't enjoy it. You are right about not returning to normal if a vaccine isn't produced soon, especially for what is left of our lifetime. I hope and pray to the Goddess that something will happen and we will all go back to normal soon but that won't really happen until Jan. 20th 2021. *sigh*
Yeah, that vaccine can't come soon enough for me!

Here it is fairly cool for July and quite windy. If it was not so green you'd think it is September. I kind of hope we will have an early autumn.
The opposite when it comes to the weather over here, slightly chilly which I like at the moment and lots of rain. They say it'll be like this for at least a week.

We have fewer deaths in corona now but people are just as stupid over here. To be honest we've had less restrictions than the rest of the world but still people complain and naturally they all went out when we had that hot weather and got infected!

I hope Your 4th of July gets as good as it can!

Christer.

Things are just as bad here in the U.K. where a little bit of easing leads to mass hysteria. Everyone is flooding the parks with their portable BBQs and leaving loads of rubbish. Sigh. I’m seeing friends selectively and staying away from the hordes. I have no doubt we’ll have another spike.

I'm in one of the southern states where it is surging, again. We are a tourist destination--beaches, you know. We wear a mask anytime we go out--I don't understand the mentality that thinks masks are infringing on their god-given rights.
