Rushing The Season

Well, our trip to Amish Country didn't turn out exactly the way we planned it.  We rushed the season only to find that most stores were not open and the ones that were had next to nothing yet.  It seems that opening season starts next week, right before Easter. However, we did drive to my daughter's favorite bakery so she could pick out a birthday cake.  She and her brother picked out a bit more than just a cake. They basically bought one of each thing that was offered.  They said they felt the need to make the trip worthwhile.

It's the cutest little bakery with the best baked goods you can buy.  We arrived 40 minutes early and the line of people was already forming.

The windows are covered with photos of what they offer.

The 'kids' bought a giant Fruity Pebbles' treat.  These are like Rice Krispy treats but made with Fruity Pebbles instead.

Cupcakes, cookies, cakecicles and cinnabuns.

And a dinner plate sized chocolate chip cookie.

Oops...things disappeared fast.

And then, The Blog Tech pulled out a red velvet bag.  What could be inside of it?

Gold coins that his sister bought him for his birthday pre-covid.  These coins were from his favorite Drive-in, so off we went to find it.

He was very happy to spend his gold coins.

Oh, my daughter did pick out her birthday cake.

A pretty amazing cake.

It's a birthday cookie cake, thus...the cookies on top.  We aren't cutting it until today.  I had two kids with a definite sugar high yesterday.

So, it was not the trip we planned but we shall persevere.  We are going back next week!
