The Trip Continued....

As nice as the Amish market was, the part we really enjoy is the drive.  We take all backroads on these trips and you never know what you might see.  I especially love seeing each and every farm, the farm houses, the animals and what each of them are growing.

We always stop to greet the animals and they always seem happy to have the distraction.

Some of these farms are just spectacular.

Besides passing Amish buggies, you always see the Amish walking places.  And they always wave hello.

You see some spectacular barns too.

Weekends are always a good time for buggy sightings.  There is no buggy driving age so you often see very young kids driving the buggies.

How many miles do they get to the gallon!

This is what I mean about never knowing what you will run into.  We saw this little Bavarian village along the way.

Unfortunately, it was not yet open when we were there.  I like to show up at the farmer's markets just as they open so by the time we found this village, it was barely 9:00am.

We walked around and looked at everything though.

Each one of the cabins is used as a studio by an artist.

You can watch them work and buy their wares.

This is a weavers studio.

A potter's studio.

I got some good landscaping ideas.  I love this cabin surrounded by ferns. I think I will do this with the witch shed.

They were build around this pretty stream.

The stream was crossed by George Washington.

Then we were back on the road again.

Just beautiful!

We really want to go back when the shops are open and we might go back soon.

Another thing we never would have seen if we weren't traveling backroads!

Hello cows.

This barn has an incredible barn star on the side.

Along the way we saw the cutest groundhog mama walking with her baby.  I had never seen a baby groundhog before.  I stopped and jumped out to take a pic and the mother ran into the woods. I had just enought time to get a pic of the baby before it followed her.

I didn't buy much on the trip except for my two gallons of maple syrup but I did get this gorgeous handmade maple bowl.

I hope you enjoyed my trip!

Thank you, a wonderful trip. I wondered how far you drove but mainly exactly where you were. I looked for Sugar Grove School Road in google maps but there are several.

If I ever travel overseas again and visit the U.S. I would love to visit the Amish.
