Hardly surprising. The Christian Right has been out to harness government power to enforce religious taboos since the 1970s, and they've been the dominant element in the Republican party for two or three decades now. So now that there's a solid theocratic majority on the Supreme Court, they pretty much have to overturn Roe or the Republican voting base will go apeshit.
I just read an article containing portions of Alito's decision where he cites the 17th century Witchfinder General, Matthew Hale, who had women hanged as witches and declared that marital rape was a-okay. I have to admit that I have been expecting the Court's decision to go this way but never in a million years would have anticipated Matthew Hale's decrees to come into it.
That last one is a good one. I sure hope people wake up and vote Democrat. We're already seeing what could happen if you vote for a Republican and it's scary.
