A Fall Festival in the Highlands

As the sun came up we drove to the mountains to attend one of our favorite festivals.  We saw trucks full of pumpkins out for deliveries.  We considered highjacking one of them.

The first thing we saw when we arrived was a blacksmith making tools for outdoor cooking.

These people were roasting beans and making coffee over a fire.

A trapper filled the woods with some of his trophies.

A witch of the woods was selling soaps, lotions and herbal remedies for all that ails you.

Walking sticks and her brewing and extracting apparatus were on display.

She was selling every kind of tea you could imagine.

There was lots of pottery and I especially loved this butter dish.  I should have bought it.

Everything is arranged and presented so beautifully.

The festival winds through a very pretty woods.

Punched tin lanterns for sale.

I like how they used wood chips here.

A knitting booth.

I loved this display.  Click on any pic for a closer look.

Historic log cabins.

And a covered bridge.  There are many covered bridges in this area.

On the way out we stopped at one of our favorite farm stands to buy corn, tomatoes, eggs and pumpkins.

Everyone had mums for sale.

And bouquets of flowers.

And more magical orange globes of glory.

We headed to our most favorite potato farm and were happy to see that they too are now growing pumpkins.

And they also sell the most beautiful heads of cabbage.  I bought two that are bigger than Willie's head.  As soon as these ghastly temperatures drop it will be Fall food making time!

There is a local festival next week, it is a sort of autumn festival, as it is always near the equinox. I'd love to try the witch's teas.

The Fall festival in the woods looks superb. The displays are beautifully arranged and the products look to be great hand crafted items. You are fortunate to have festivals like this.
