It's over but we had, quite possibly, the best Halloween ever.

We passed out all 180 treat bags. We had trick-or-treaters for 2-1/2 hours.

Four people from England were visiting our city and decided to choose a neighborhood to walk the streets so they could experience a true American Halloween. When they saw our house, I got to see the cutest reaction ever! They asked if they could take pics and they sure did. They had never seen a real scarecrow before and were so excited to meet Jake. One of the women said that it is now her goal to show everyone in Birmingham the pics and try to get people to celebrate Halloween like we do. |

When she mentioned Birmingham, I about screamed and we instantly bonded over Peaky Blinders and Small Heath. It was so much fun and they left with pumpkin cutout cookies and treat bags. You would have thought I gave them money. I think they had their ultimate American Halloween experience. As you can see in the above pic, I had some very sleepy participants. The W's were so excited and greeted every single person that stopped by our house. At one point, Winnie took to the stoop to observe but she quickly feel asleep.
Willie collapsed in the middle of the sidewalk and everyone had to walk around him all evening. They had endless pets from many children. In fact, one little child dropped her bag full of candy to run full speed ahead to pet Wils. I was very impressed by how many families were dressed in themes along with their children. We had a zoo keeper with all of her animals, a 5 year old Jimi Hendrix with his band and at least one family of vampires. There was a 3 year old Barbie driving her car which she parked in front of our gate then got out to get a treat bag. The local police drove up and down the streets playing the theme song from Ghostbusters. I am a very happy witch today.

Our big block here on Cemetery Hill really does Halloween BIG!
We had cars lining the streets -- but every single child and adult was happy, polite - and full of magical fun!! Lots of great costumes -- the trendiest costume was Wednesday Addams!!
Plus lots of folks brought along their dogs too!! In costumes!!
The British visitors sound wonderful!! How fun -- and now have lots of stories to tell! LOVE the adorable puppies!!
