Christmas Wreath Cookies

The cookie war continues.  I think I am winning.  I made these yesterday. Here is the recipe:
2 sticks of butter
1 C. sugar
1 T. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. allspice
zest of 1 orange
1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
2-1/2 C. flour

Mix this all together and roll out to 1/4 inch thickness.  Cut out wreath shapes and bake at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes.  Mine took 8 minutes.

Beat 1 C. of confectioners sugar with 1 T. spiced rum and 3-4 T. of heavy cream. Frost each cookie.

Press pecan pieces, dried cherries, dried cranberries, pistachios, raisins, candied ginger and hazelnut pieces or any dried fruits and nuts of your choice on to the wet icing.  Let them sit until the frosting sets.

Rugelach and wreathes.

Lots more baking to do!

The wreaths are adorable! Could a tinge of green food colouring be added to the icing to make them look like pine wreaths?
May I please eat one, right off the computer screen?????

Joyce, I just have to inquire, does your kitchen stove ever have the opportunity to cool off? You certainly have earned the award for cook of the year!! You have offered us, your followers, so many wonderful recipes. Thank you. Rugelach is a Christmas favorite in our home. A care package to Maine would be most welcomed! LOL. Merry Christmas to you and your's, Julie.
