Sunday Dinner...Brazilian Food

For this past Sunday's dinner, I made Brazilian food.  Though my DIL was raised in America, she is Brazilian through and through and has introduced us to so many things Brazilian. The Blog Tech is getting pretty good at speaking Portuguese!  We love the food!  The main dish was Feijoada, a bean and meat stew.  Almost every nationality has a signature bean dish and this is Brazil's.  In fact, it is their national dish.

It is served with an assortment of side dishes....vinaigrette being one of them.  This was especially delicious because I used my fresh garden tomatoes and herbs. It is much like a mild salsa.

Collards are always served on the side but my DIL loves kale so I made it instead.

And farofa!  Farofa is fried manioc flour.  It can be made many ways; I made mine with sauteed onions and garlic in butter and added crumbled cooked bacon, parsley and salt and pepper.

Of course, I made more pao de queijo.

The feijoada is always served with Brazilian rice.  Brazil consumes more rice than anywhere other than Asia.

I served a salad just to lighten things up...haha!

Oh, and I almost forget, I made Bolo con Carne Alemao.  These are small meatloaves made with ground beef and chorizo and formed around a hard boiled egg.
They are excellent served with chimichurri sauce.  Chimichurri sauce makes everything better.

So, like most bean dishes, it is not very attractive but the flavor overrides it's appearance.

I forgot to take a pic of the dessert (this is from the internet) but my daughter made pecan blondies and we served them with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.

I did remember to take a pic of the sauce I made.  Now I am trying to decide what to make for next Sunday!

It all looks so delicious. We had Brazilian food at the local food festival back in July. We really enjoyed it.

Your Brazilian-inspired Sunday dinner is a culinary masterpiece! The feijoada, with its rich blend of beans and meats, truly captures the essence of Brazil's national dish. Pairing it with traditional sides like vinaigrette, kale, farofa, and Brazilian rice showcases an authentic and thoughtful approach to the meal. The addition of pao de queijo and Bolo com Carne Alemão adds delightful variety, and the pecan blondies with caramel sauce sound like the perfect sweet ending.
