In Pittsburg,CA,getting ready to go to work in Oakland, CA. Worked in a 27 story building, on the 21st floor ... they sent everyone back home! It was all mind-numbing ... no planes in the air! And, then there was the town of Gander where so many planes landed and that little town took care of everyone on those plane! Yes ... I have already cried ... once again ... this morning!
I had just arrived at work when the second plane hit. I immediately went home and watched the news coverage all day and then went for a long walk to get over the shock of it all.
I was sound asleep in my home in Alabama, waiting for my daughter to awake me with a phone call on my birthday. She lives in Brooklyn and her husband worked three blocks from WTC. When she called, she was screaming so that I did not recognize her voice, did not know what happened once I realized it was Lisa. I thought maybe--her husband had been slashed on the subway, her first grader had been struck on the way to school, that the infant had died of SIDs. I have never been so frightened in my life. Yes, today is my birthday.
I was asleep as I had been up late. The cleaning lady woke me up when she turned the TV on. That night I had pâté chinois (cottage pie) for supper and chocolate cake for dessert. Then I went to a local bar and I drank Griffon Red ale. I was angered and shocked.
I was in Malibu California just getting ready to order breakfast when I saw the news on the TV at the diner. I quickly ran back to the hotel room to wake my then-boyfriend and we watched the 1st tower come down right after I turned on the TV. We were supposed to drive up to Big Sur but instead drove back to El Paso because all the flights were grounded.
I really want to thank Dr Emu for saving my marriage. My wife really treated me badly and left home for almost 3 month this got me sick and confused.
