Willie Has a BooBoo

This past July, Willie came up lame.

At first we thought perhaps his Lyme disease returned.

I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem but around here it is extremely hard to get a vet appointment.  Apparently, lots of people got dogs during the pandemic.

It took almost a month to get him in and the vet could not find anything wrong with his leg so he agreed it might be the return of Lyme and put him on antibiotics.

I gave them to him for three weeks and saw absolutely no improvement.  Back to the vet again and they still couldn't find anything wrong, even with an x-ray so now he was put on anti-inflammatories.

We also got a referral to a specialist but they couldn't see him for over a month.

And here we are, three months from the start of this and his appointment is tomorrow.

I am so nervous that it is an ACL tear and he will need surgery.  However, he walks on it with hardly a limp.  Though, when he stands still he still doesn't put full weight on it.

Fingers crossed and I guess we will know something tomorrow.

Sorry to read this. Here my son got a bit sick, but he is getting better.
I hope the specialist can figure it out!

Have you checked his paw for any sign of injury or thickening of the paw surface? Possible puncture wound?

It is generally so much harder on us when our beloved pet has an injury or illness. Hope all goes well for Willie.

Here's hoping the vet can fix it, inexpensively.

Look how cute he was in that last picture. Prayers that all goes well and they figure out what is wrong.

It is such a worry, isn't it? We can finally go in with our pets but they are backed up, too. Fingers crossed that it's something minor that rest and time will fix.

My dog has been dealing with the same thing and we finally got her TPLO surgery. However, as soon as she was cleared by the vet to start being more active, she injured herself again. They think she pulled a groin muscle this time. So frustrating! Good luck! I hope yours is an easy fix!
