364 Days Until Halloween

I don't know when The W's have ever been so happy.  We put a temporary gate across the driveway and we walked them down so they could sit and watch the trick or treaters. They could see up and down the street from this vantage point and they got so excited when they saw people coming.  Willie hadn't seen anyone except for us in 3 weeks so he was beside himself over everyone coming by and petting him.  He lasted until we ran out of candy. He wishes we could have Halloween all the time.

My daughter and I carved a bunch of JOL's earlier in the day.

We had baskets filled with treat bags to hand out.

My daughter made this gorgeous cake.

It had edible maple leaves sprinkled on top.

We lit the JOL's,

And placed them along the driveway wall.

My Daughter also made my baked brain for the first time and she did a great job. She stuffed the round of brie with pepper, onions and pepperoni and wrapped it in puff pastry then painted it with colored egg yolks.

After it baked, it oozed brain all over the pan!  We took care of that with crackers and French bread!

I made a charcuterie tray.

And some pinwheel bites.  We had a bunch of other stuff but we were so busy with trick or treaters that we forgot to take pics. We went through over 200 treat bags in a little over an hour.  The weather was perfect after it rained all day.  The children had wonderful costumes and most of their parents were dressed up as well.  It was a perfect Halloween!  How was yours?

Here on Block 13 on Cemetery Hill Road - we had 530 kids!!

Perfect night here -- not too warm nor windy so everyone was dressed up and ready to Trick or Treat!!

Still have bags and bags of candy leftover too! Had about 2,000 pieces of candy to start the whole evening!

Next door neighbor made white turkey chili, and I had lots of cold cuts, cheeses, salad, veggies and chips too!

And my usual Bloody Good Cosmopolitans!

Another wonderful Halloween!

cheers!! Jan at Rosemary Cottage
Once again, some of the pictures don't show up.

Everyone takes their kids to the churches around here for Halloween trick or treating. No one goes around to houses for some reason around here. It's very heartbreaking. I buy candy just in case someone does come by though. Usually, when my neighbor's grandkids come by the next day I give them most of the candy. *heavy sigh*
Sounds as You had a great time, both humans and dogs :-)

Have a great day!

Christer.

That's the right attitude: today is the start countdown for next year's Halloween. But I need a bit of time to grieve all the same.

We went to my granddaughter's (7yo) house. Her neighborhood is full of kids around her age. It was a busy night.

Wow your Halloween sounded so festive. Exactly how Halloween should be. That menu. Yum. And that cake. I can't believe you went through 200 treat bags. Our neighborhood doesn't get trick-or-treaters, so we went out to entertain ourselves. I loved that pic of the pups together. So cute.

Everything you do is exquisite, but this occasion was a delight. Thank you for sharing with us mere mortals.
