Gardening

I am gardening more right now than I have in years. This pic doesn't look like much now but it is the beginning of a woodland path I am creating which leads into The Toy Woods.  Not only do I want things to look more orderly, I also want paths to lead people and pups away from exposed roots and other tripping hazards.

I ripped out all of the old pachysandra from this area and am planting a new bed.  I am quite sure I will be pulling pachysandra out of this bed for years.  After I planted this area I decided it didn't look right so I am already pulling plants out and moving them to other locations. Creating garden beds is not unlike decorating a room.  You move the furniture around until it's arranged the way you like it.  Unlike decorating a room though, you need to have vision in the garden and be able to imagine what it will look like in 3-4 years.

Always remember to give your gnome a fern or two or three.

The creek is running.  I need a new pump but at least it is functional for now.

This is my biggest challenge at the moment.  I cut a large dogwood down and now I am cutting the stump and roots out.  My husband and I are taking turns working on this.  When one of us gets frustrated, the other one takes over.  Today I will be digging out all of these plants and relocate them so I can create a bed after the roots and stump are gone.

I made 4 more pounds of ramp butter too.  My house will smell like ramps for days!

Are you using Root Rot or grinding the stump out?

Thanks for the recipe update yesterday. I want to be ready as I’m optimistically searching for ramps (farmers markets) in hopes of making ramp butter too.
At least dogwood have shallow roots.
