I'm taking some time off.  I don't feel well.  I am having trouble figuring out how I am going to live in this country.  I can't watch the news.  I have such a feeling of dread that it is hard to breathe.  I've always been a very optimistic person but I've lost that.  I can find no good coming from all of this. I feel like I am watching someone die, and I am.  It's America.

I do understand! It has knocked the wind out of me. Tommy said after Trump won that "maybe it would have been better if he had died." I was shocked as that is not him at all.
He will try things that the US will have to stop. We will.
Hugs to you, Joyce. I hope you find workable coping strategies and a greater sense of peace. Yes, don't watch the news. Focus on creativity -- new cuisine, making art, expressing the beauty inside you. I hope you come back to blogging some day, my friend.

I have not watched news on tv or checked on computer either. Last night we watched the movie “Ice Age “a cartoon I just needed comfort. I crossstitch samplers and will just hide in my sewing room and stitch. Trying to figure out what life will be,I worry about so many things, poor Ukraine will no longer get needed aid. Israel will obliterate all its enemies.

The one bright spot (for me) is the fact that those who voted for the Orange Lump will be treated the same as those who did not! He doesn't give a rat's ass about anyone but himself!
The ACLU and someone else (I can't recall who he is) said yesterday they will be in "watchdog mode" and keep a close eye on the Orange Lump and it's cronies!

yeah ... me, too.

A common feeling among Harris supporters. But we can't give up. John Lewis said it best: "Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year—it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble."

Yesterday I came on to post my cats and then went offline all day. I've been trying so hard to figure out what happened and where the US is going to go from there. It's starting to feel like pre Handmaid's Tale right now with the confusion. It's the beginning of a nightmare with no end in sight.

I’m sorry but completely agree & understand fully! I had said four years ago that I would be moving out of this country and here we are again four years later and the same shit. It’s so disheartening & I’ve had a heavy heart for days and also not sleeping well. I actually looked up British Columbia Canada today for information about possibly moving. Be well, feel better soon healing ❤️‍🩹 vibes sent. Take care of yourself and your loved ones first and foremost ⭐️💜

I live far away, but always loved this country and I agree with you all. The whole world is shocked. How can such a s... happen. This orange man has only the $ sign in his eyes and will destroy the world. All those who voted for him will wake up and realize that he is a cheater.
Inform yourself about his family history and then you know.

I have decided that when the 💩 hits the fan, and when the MAGAts are surprised and complaining about the 💩, my response will be: "Don't complain ... You voted for this 💩!"
I'm surrounded by "them" in this building I live in! Just discovered another one yesterday ... She didn't like the ads Kamala ran on TV. Evidently she wasn't offended by the Orange Lump's disgusting ads!

Courage Joy. Trump is neither eternal nor invincible. Cold comfort for now, I know.

I totally understand how you are feeling! Not watching the news here. Mourning for all who are going to be negatively impacted by the actions of the coming years. Had hoped for a gentler time in our “golden age.”

'Golden Ages ' only for him and his compagnons (Musk etc), not for the people.

some election analysis...
30% of repugs will alwways be hard-core, chump cultists. The other 70% of chumpazoids either didn't want another darky or a woman to be prez or they actually believe immigrants are eating pets. It's astounding that this country is still so fulll of racists and bigots and fools.
The country survived 8 years of ronnie raygun and 8 years of the shrub. Whether it survives in 4 years remains to be seen.

What Happens Now? by Andy Borowitz is an article on the I Should Be Laughing blog posted yesterday. Found it very astute and would like to recommend it to people who are greiving the election results.
Reading it made me feel better.

Miss you too, but hiding our heads in the sand is not going to make an impossible situation any better. Now is the time to openly stand up for what we believe in and to let our voices be heard.
