My gosh, aren't these lovely photos. I love your mantel and tablescape. What are those dark figures? The garden gate is wonderful. This is YOUR house? Lovely!

thank you for the comment. my house is called serpent gate cottage. the "snake knot" is on my side gate. i have been working on this property for 20 years! the dark figures did not come out well. they are female and male figures molded from metal mesh. i bought them in seattle years ago. they are really wonderful but poorly photographed. please come back and follow my updates!

Did you name it yourself, or did it already have a name? It seems to look like a historic home.

the house was built in 1874. i named it serpent gate cottage because of my penchant for snakes especially the iron ones all over my fences and gates! i will post more pics so please come back to see them!

What great taste you have ! Enlightened me : what are those "spheres" on your table and mantle ? They are superb !! All like the way your play wiht the details : the door, the hanging light, the celtic cross, the pillows on the chair... And the snakes are wow !!

the spheres are mercury glass. they were produced it the late 1800's. they are glass spheres, vases, candlesticks, etc. that had actual mercury swirled inside them and then capped off with a cork. recently there have been cheap imitations produced out of mexico. i bought a lot of these in the czech republic which is famous for it's glass. on the other table is a glass collection. i've bought unique glass pieces by artists where ever i've traveled. i also collect crosses. i will post more pics of them in the future. i came up with a great garden idea today and will post a pic of it tomorrow. it is a fun, frugal way we can all decorate our gardens! the front door is the original door. i added the green man door knocker and had it gold leafed.
