Stop by For a Spell

The "Practical Magic" spellbook. My most cherished possession.

Remember in the movie Sandra Bullock threw the book on the table and then spun it around and opened the back? You can see the hidden back compartment at the bottom of the book in the above picture.

The back cover opens to reveal the flap.

When you open the flap you see that this section is upside down.

You have to spin the book around to see it properly. This is the section that has all of the 'dark spells'.

This is one of the pages from the main part of the book.

This is the page that they went to to 'bring the boyfriend back'.

This page has a spell for love.

I will show more spellbooks tomorrow.

Remember these wooden candlesticks from the other day? And the amber votive holders? After the votives were cleaned and the candlesticks painted, I have some great items to use for my Halloween decorations. And all for about $4.00! There are so many terrific cheap items out there which can be repurposed so easily!

The first Hibiscus has bloomed.

With a whole lot more about to follow!

I blush to say that I have never seen the movie "Practical Magic" but I'll have to rent the DVD now just to see the spellbook in action!

That book should be your most prized possession--soooo cool! I love the candleholders so much--when you light them up they should glow a pretty amber.

You really are a collector, aren't you?
Want a goat?
heh heh

My hubby doesn't go back to work until Monday and I will ask him to copy the cheese recipes then and I will get them out to you. My copier is one where it goes through a little chute instead of just being put down on the machine so I would have to rip them out of the book to do it here. If that makes any sense at all...

OMG! I loooved that movie and I looooved that book. I'm surprised how thin it is...it looked much bulkier in the movie and I remember it being leather bound but maybe they had more than one book prop?

I've always wondered who aquired that book. I watch the movie over and over just to freeze frame and screencap my way through the sequences with the book. I've been trying to model my own family spell/recipe/herbal book after that beautiful piece. With the birth of my children it seemed pertinant to make one. I can't tell you how much I appreciate seeing pages that we didn't see in the movie. Please I beg you post more pictures of the inside!
Okay...that has to be one of the coolest things ever! I loved that movie and the book SO MUCH, and that spell book is totally something I would have purchased as well. I am dying to know if it was truly full of real workable spells, or if it is mainly just for show. I am amazed they would create a prop like that and fill the entire thing with actual real pages etc. One would think it to be just for show on the outside. How very very cool! I can only imagine what that jewel set you back...but you are very lucky indeed and your other 'grimoires' are lovely as well!

Wow! You have no idea how long I have been looking for pictures of the replica of the Practical Magic movie spellbook. This is awesome! Your whole blog is awesome. It reminds me of the Practical Magic movie a whole lot. Lol. That one page entitled "Extinctus absolut" is interesting. I wish I could read the rest of the text on the page. Would you mind posting some pics of the other pages from the book? I am sure other people would like to see them as well. I know it is unlike any spellbook I have ever seen! Also, did Warner Bros. include pages such as "oblivious Immenor" or the page about using a dove heart to obtain the heart of your true love in the book?

Many blessings!
beautiful book!!! I can't believe the illustrations!! oooh, how I would LOVE to page through it! Practical Magic is one of my fave movies of all time too, I've seen it more that a few times ;) Thank you so much for sharing!!

Blessings~
Pleas please please show more of the book!!

I have spent a long time trying to find the person who bought this book. Legend had it you bought it in 2001 and paid a hefty sum for it. If you ever scanned all these pages and put them on your blog, I think most of us would go nuts. Enjoy your wonderful tome, you own a true piece of "Hollywood magic".
