Teddy

I really want to thank everyone for your warm Teddy wishes. Not much phases me in life anymore. It takes a lot to rattle my old bones; well, middle aged bones to be honest. But let something happen to the pup.....that really shakes me up. It has been a looooong 35 hours. Teddy came through her 107 temperature with flying colors. Most dogs would suffer seizures and suffer organ damage with that kind of temperature but this is the second time this has happened to her and she has tolerated it more than well. She is going to have to see an internist to find out why this keeps happening. It seems that something is off with her temperature regulation. That aside, when she came home she was lame. I couldn't believe it. She could hardly stand and could put absolutely no pressure at all on her right hind leg. I thought I would let her rest for a while and see if it got any better. She soon fell into a deep sleep but when she woke up it was worse. After calling the vet 3 times I finally insisted that they have another look at her. It is almost 9:30 at night here and she just came home. They examined her thoroughly and from what they can tell, they must have hit a nerve when they took blood and caused a severe hematoma. So she is now on anti inflamatories and ice packs and we are taking turns sleeping on the floor with her. If you hear really loud snoring that would be me!!! Thanks so much again and I might be posting a bit late tomorrow. Zzzzzzzzz!!!!

Oh, poor Teddy. I'd say give him extra snuggles and petting and cooing, but I'm sure he's getting plenty. That's a truly amazing dog--I love chow chows, they're such good pups. I'll send healing energy her way. :-) (p.s. your way too)

So sad (and concerned) that your chow baby isn't well! =( You both will be in my thoughts.

awwwwwwww I'm glad she's doing better! Give her a big hug (one that won't hurt her, most definately) for me! I'm not so in touch with what a severe hematoma is but I do hope she feels better with that. It's so sweet that you're taking turns sleeping on the floor with her, it must be so comforting for her :)
Blessings :)

Wow I just finished my post about my little dog Terry and his broken ligament and then came over to your blog and read about Teddy.
I'm so new to blogging it took me a while to realise I had a comment from you on my earlier post.
I hope all goes well for you and Teddy!

Oh no! It gets worse!
Aren't our animal friends a HUGE responsibility?
As they can't scream at us and say "I don't feel very well", we have to be so vigilant.
And poor "old" you...don't forget to look after yourself too!
Keep us posted on Teddy's progress...hope she's better quickly.

I do hope Teddy is feeling better now, poor girl. I hate it when the dogs aren't well.
Loove and light to you both.

Oh, poor Teddy and You! I'm thinking of you both...hematomatoes (as we not so fondly refer to them in my house) are no fun at all! My beastie gets them in his earflaps all the time.

Sorry to hear about Teddy's health problems. I hope she is on the mend very soon! She is so pretty and cute. I used to have a German Shepherd Chow mix and even though he didn't look like her he still had that expression and blue tongue. Her pictures kind of reminded me of my Kody.
