Thrift Shopping

First I want to apologize for grossing you all out by putting yesterday's roadkill as the first picture. Cooking as I do, I tend to lose sight of how awfully shocking raw ingredients tend to be(picture Julia Child holding the monkfish), So for those that I have not driven away screaming into the night, I promise to never put the mother load of meat up first. How did I come to this understanding you might wonder? Because I returned to my post later in the day and almost screamed when I saw the picture. It caught even me off guard. I mentioned to the Blog Tech that he might act as an editor and he declined saying that I post about cooking all the time and so pics like this should be expected. However, when he was just here, I made him look at it and he almost hurled. That aside, Wednesdays are half off days at the thrift shops and I hit the ground running very early. I am only posting a few things because I think everything looks so much better cleaned up that I will post the others after they have been scrubbed. This sweet little silver plate basket cost me 99 cents.

A shamrock cut glass posy for 1.29. It is cut not pressed.

This vintage stain-free crocheted tablecloth in ecru was 4.99. But it was half of day so 2.50.

I love finding cute little jam pots because during the summer when I make jam, they make a nice gift for neighbors. 2.99

Another cute silver basket for 69 cents. Easter is on it's way! This will make a nice basket for cookies or rolls to give as a gift.

Two embroidered linen guest towels for 1.99.

Two vintage crocheted pillow shams. Two for 1.99. I collect french vintage linens and though these are not French, they were a good bargain.

Seven vintage yellow lace edged napkins for 1.49.

A trio of vintage guest finger towels.

Three more, one with a crocheted border, the other two embroidered.

There will be many more tomorrow but for now I will spend the afternoon prying stickers off of everything and washing lots of glass.

Love all the linens! And I was not reminded of roadkill when I saw your last post, but my first thought was d*%$, they eat a lot of red meat in that household!
That meat was way too pretty to be roadkill!
What a nice little jam pot. Either I´m blind when out shopping and looking for things or You must live in thrift shopping heaven :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.
I love your bargains today! Yippee I love half price day! Can't wait to see more. I also need to do some sticker removal and dish washing! I must say the first photo in yesterday's post did catch me a little off guard! I was ok and I didn't think roadkill, but it was very 'graphic'...lol. I am looking for some shams like the one's you found...I will just keep looking, they are out there I'm sure! That jam pot is adorable. I buy the little glass dishes when I can get them cheap $1 or less and fill them with candy or some other goodies and use them as gifts. Can't beat that price and love the quality of those cute little cut glass dishes!

Lolll you are right, the meat spooked me a bit but I am used to buying my meat directly on the animal, soooo... no problem there. ;) We tend to forget where our food comes from. ;)

Niceeeee finds !!!

I'll have to go all the way to Pennsylvania for thriftshopping because I fear there is nothing left in our state Missy! Ha Ha Ha...That lace tablecloth and all the linens are awesome finds, I love all that old granny stuff, except that I have an aversion to dollies.

lol I chuckled when I read your comment about road kill because our children always have a chuckle about thier gramma who is kind of a wild bush woman . She has on previous occassion shown up with a porcupine , bat etc. in the trunk of her car to show her grandkids
anyway I love your finds ! The prices also show you have a real thrift store too . We've small local MCC thrift and it has good prices too and one never knows what will be there . I mostly get our homeschool books .You are so blest to have found linen ! Those items are so gorgeous ! I think we'd have to travel to a small town in a farming community to find linen that isn't polyester now . My ds9 always picks out sparkly stuff like your shamrock dish , he bought himself a butter dish he said he is saving it till he moves out lol
I love your blog , even the meat pics are great maybe being canadian meti bush people helps ;-)
