A New Giveaway and Totems

The winner of the banana splits giveaway is: MarZel I will ship it out on Monday! This week Teddy would like to give away a set of summer salad/dessert plates. There are four plates in this set.

They have pretty little birds (Gold Finches?) on them and wildflowers.

The Latin names of the flowers are printed around the edge of each plate. To enter, just leave a comment on this post. If you aren't already a follower, sign on to follow. The winner will be announced next Saturday and a new giveaway posted at that time.

I was bored last night so I made a peanut butter sheet cake.

I think I am done making garden totems for a while.

All of my friends and neighbors now have one in their yards.

It's not so much that I am bored with making them.

It has more to do with storing the glass.

And organizing it.

I have boxes of glass piled in my basement.

And it is all sitting in front of my wii fit.

This is not a good thing. I need to use my wii fit!

So my goal this week is to organize the area.

Take back my space!!!

A lot of my glass might be donated back to the thrift shops I bought it from.

How strange is that.

Remember the mosaics I was making?

I have to tackle all of those plates too.

Local thrift store inventories are about to grow.

I need to find a new challenge.

Something very small and light weight!

Congratulations MarZel! I wonder if her Pug predicted that she would win?

Your totems all look so lovely, but I can understand why you need a new challenge. You've already conquered this one! Knowing you, you already have something percolating in the back of your mind, and I'm atwitter with anticipation as to what it will be!

Those plates that you are sharing for your next giveaway are truly too lovely to use! But I could see a delicate cookie or two resting politely upon one.

Have you started work on your Practical Magic house yet?

I don't know if you are going to get some of the rain that flew over my house, but cooler weather is behind it, at least for a day or two! Keep your fingers crossed!!

Hi J dear,

I just parked near a coffee shop and picked up a bunch of blog posts and e-mails. I guess that I didn't make it clear enough that I am on a 5 week book tour. Lots of television, interviews, speaking, teas, book signings, etc. Life is hectic, but wonderful. So I haven't seen Maine, my lovely seaside porch, the loons, and I haven't stopped going for two and a half weeks.

Thanks for you words and YES, I am heartsick about the oil spill. I volunteered to help with birds during the oil spill in Santa Barbara, which wasn't a zillionth as devastating as this one.

Wish me luck and I'll do the same for you and Teddy.

Why not spend the summer canning vegetables for the coming winter. I used to love to do that when I lived up North.

Yes, they are American Gold Finches.

We don't have them out here.

You could come out here and help me finish the yurt!

The toilet is in.
And it flushes.....
Congratulations to MarZel winner of Teddy's Treat!

So, you are all "totemed out"! I don't wonder. You have created many beautiful totems!

The peanut butter sheet cake looks good!

We will wait and see what your new challenge is! :)

Have a great weekend!

xoxo to Teddy Red Fluffs!

You were bored so you made a peanut butter sheet cake. Why do I not live next door to you? Really, I'd be thrilled to watch Teddy The Adorable if you needed to be away in return for a peanut butter sheet cake. SIGH.

I would LOVE to have those plates! They are just what I'm looking for. I haven't started my totems yet....still collecting the glass. I am going to do a green one and a red/yellow glass one. I like the clear ones you did with birds in them. I don't know if you have been over to my blog lately....but I have a new addition to my family....and she is so cute!

Your totems are so beautiful, but it's not good for the hobby to take over the house. The plates are lovely with their gold finches. They are our state bird here in Iowa.

Love the totems and the cake, scrumptious!

Love to win those plates, too beautiful to resist, thanks for the giveaway!

You mentioned you're ready for a smaller project...well the size of these could be smaller, that would depend on how big you would want to make them. Perhaps you have already done this, if so, please disregard.
I remember seeing lovely floral wreath you have made for your front door...what about making wreath for family, friends, specialty ones for specific rooms in your home, or floral swags or arrangements. I love the fresh arrangements, but they just don't last as long as would like, and now the silk versions are often so well make, is hard to tell fresh from silk. Just a thought FWIW.

Love the plates and those garden totems are to die for! I especially like the ones that have ceramics under glass. Why not design some totems with some of the glass you have in storage, have a diagram of them, and post them one at a time as giveaways!! I would be all over that and I am sure many of your followers would love to learn how to make one and have one in their garden! Oh please!!...pretty please!!....share your talents!!...actually it would probably be too expensive to ship all that heavy glass...oh well.:( Love that peanut butter cake!

lol My thoughts exactly...some donating back to Goodwill is in order..and soon!
What a cute idea it is to make those glass sculptures for the garden...in California mine would get so dirty in no time flat I wouldn't be able to find them. :)

Awesome plates. I'd love to add them to my collection!

Your garden totem idea is very inspiring. I have tons of "collections" and if some of them would find their way into the garden, I'd have room for more!!!

Those plates are amazing! I am not fond of birds flying over my head in a house but I love to watch them outside and I find their behavior so fascinating. I would love these plates. You are one talented lady! Anne

that plate is gorgeous! just my style!
These are some of the prettiest totems I have seen so far. Have you really quit making them? Where do you get your inspiration? I wish I could find half the treasures you find. I pay much more for the same stuff at yard sales and thrift stores here in alabama. Thanks for sharing them.
