The Detour

So, after a long hot drive and quick trip to the fair and the detour from another huge traffic delay, we headed east on Rte. 40. Suddenly we spied this Jack O' Lantern. You can see the Blog Tech taking pics in the the side view mirror.

We zoomed into the parking lot.

Talk about the mother lode!

What a beautious sight!!!

All sorts of gourds and squash.

Mini pumpkins!

This is pumpkin heaven.

Giant pumpkins.

Never pick a pumpkin up by the stem! There is some cosmic pumpkin wisdom in this statement.

Wagons to transport your pumpkins.

The main barn is filled with Halloween shops carrying everything you could want.

Gourd birdhouses for sale.

Fresh cider for a hot day.

This place is huge.

They even had a corn maize you could visit but it was too hot for us to venture into it.

It was so hot these guys stayed in the barn.

Hay for sale.

Look closely at that little ghost. Who could it be???

The Blog Tech was a good sport again!!!

Though I might have pushed his level of mother tolerance a bit.

He's a big boy. He is also going to kill me for posting this. (Little secret....he enjoyed this as much as I did!)

These two chicks were just hanging out.

Though this one shot the Blog Tech the stink eye when he laid down on the ground to take her pic.

Halloween candy for sale.

Pumpkin candy.

A chocolate goat.

And goat heaven.

Billy goat mountain! Can you imagine the fun the goats have playing on this?

*Tomorrow I will show you what we bought at the show.

I love those pictures of the fall and pumpkins. I want to take my granddaughter to a pumpkin patch this year. She is 17 months old and adorable.

Man, so hot the goats stay in the shade, and the chickens are roasting!
What a fabulous detour! Love this pumpkin patch and would visit in a minute if I lived near it!

yay for goats!
Sometimes detours are more fun than the destination.

Sherpa gets out sometimes. He's a sneaky boy
Ohhhhhhhh, places like this, are such fun!!!

The place where we get flowers in the spring, has wagons for people to haul around and collect their purchases too, and take them to the check out... Where they put in cardboard flats, and then you take them to your car, with the wagon, too. :-)

You find the best places! But I think the monster should get his hand of your chest. Little ghostie! LOL. Your son is such a good sport. I look forward to your posts.
loved seeing all of the delicious-ness being stuck out here in this heat box in California....
What a place! I wish ..... You know the rest :-) :-)

Perhaps I should grow gourds next year and make bird houses of them?

Have a great day now!

Didn't that pyramid of pumpkins remind you of a WITCHE'S hat??? Two good things rolled into one! Of course you can't pick up pumpkins by the stem....they'll break off! :)
You gotta love midwest farms in the fall!

Did you know about this place? You must have had a heart attack with all that Halloween stuff... How do they get the pumpkins off the top circle?... What a find? Good for you... We should get the benefit of lots of pumpkin treats, now, right?... Thanks for sharing...
What a wonderful detour! Don't you just love it when magical things like that happen. Unexpected good times are the best!
