Halloween Things and a New Giveaway

The winner of the bag of goodies from The West Point Market is: Jennifer from Goats in the Garden. Send me your info and I will ship it right out to you. Today we are having the first cool day we have had in months. It is 60 degrees and breezy and it feels like Fall. I have meatloaves cooking, a pot roast in the oven and I am about to build a fire in my firepit. I was going to teach the Blog Tech to make ketchup today but he did not realize it takes all day and he has other things scheduled. So, ketchup making will occur tomorrow! I am feeling so Fall-like that I am making this weeks giveaway a bit Halloweenish! It is a fortune telling set.

It comes with a booklet of instructions for reading the tarot.

It has a book on palm reading and a deck of tarot cards.

The book is about 3 x 4 inches.

The cards are the same size. If you would like to enter, leave a comment and if you are not a follower, sign on to follow. The winner will be announced next Saturday.

I bought a new set of Halloween Plates.

Even the box is cool.

There are four different patterns.

I love this one with the raven over the word spooky.

And this one has Oct. 31 on it.

My favorite one.

I found more Halloween treats at the store.

These look great in the orange slag glass compote.

Pumpkins in a pumpkin bowl.

Black bat Dots and candy corn Dots.

And Halloween Oreos.

The view from the kitchen window early this morning just as the sun was rising. This tree should start to change soon.

Trick or Treat, Smell my feet, Give me something good to eat!!!

No need to enter me in the giveaway, but I just HAD to say I LOVE those plates! I've had those plates in my cart at Grandin Road for awhile now, but I am trying to be more careful about impulse purchases!

Have you seen these?

I love your posts, but I find I am eager to go shopping after reading your blog. My husband does not find this agreeable with our finances.
LOVE the skull plate in particular.

Thank you.
Already a follower here too and would love to get my greedy little hands on that fortune telling set! It's too cute!

And you reminded me I need to stock up on those horrid peanut butter candies in the black and orange waxed paper. I love those things!!!

Our weather has turned cooler, too. I laughed when the weather forecast called for a cold front on a day when it was in the high 80s. I'm bundled up in my winter pajamas and a quilted jacket.

Lovely Tarot set. I'm still re-learning after an absence of over 25 years.

Those plates are great! I don't know where you find this stuff but you're good at it.

Thanks for the opportunity for the fortune telling set - I have to restrain myself when I see all the halloween goodies, but I have to know as well - where did you get those wonderful plates?
I can't wait to find those Halloween oreos... children like to make oreo truffles with them. So easy, crush them all up in the food processor until they are a fine crumb mixture. Set aside about 1/2 cup of the mixture. Add a block of softened cream cheese to the rest, mix well.. roll them into 1" size balls. We then dip those balls in about 16 oz of orange colored melted chocolate and then sprinkle some of the remaining crumbs on top. Place them on a wax lined cookie sheet and refrigerate about an hour... they are a fantastic treat!

PS, love the contest this week... I hope I win, I hope I win, I hope I win....

That is probably the ONLY thing I miss about living in town...the trick-or-treaters and passing out candy. We don't get very many out here in the country on Halloween.

Thank you so much! I can't believe I won. I sent you an email with my mailing address, let me know if you did not get it. Thank you, Thank you!

Hi Jaz,
First I must say Teddy is one loveable fellow....just sooo adorable and I love the booties you made for him when he was recovering from surgery.

I accidentally stumbled unto your blog this evening while searching for "Practical Magic" and when I read about your Practical Magic House and you winning the Warner auction for the authentic "Book of Spells " and Sally's umbrella she used on the roof top I just had to let you know about the blog party that is being given here: <a href="http://pmblogpart on September 25/2010 given by Justina and Anna, and Inspired by Christina, Staci, and Theresa.
I'm sure others out there that luv the movie would be thrilled to meet someone who actually has the book of spells and Sally's umbrella and is interior designing the Owens' house in miniature.Again the party is opened to anyone who adores the movie, or the Book of Garden Spells " and of course likes Witches, Magic and Halloween. I will be giving something away that I am making inspired by the movie but will keep it a secret until then.
Hope to see you there.

I would love to have the fortune telling set. I am getting really excited about halloween. Of course, our weather is acting crazy here, 92 degrees, with 94% humidity, and two days later 62 degrees. This cooler weather, really gets me in the mood for fall. I can't wait for the halloween oreos.

GOOD MORNING!!! Did you dance naked out in the street as you promised you would when the temperatures dropped? YOU PROMISED.

I need to know what vitamins you're taking. I can't keep up with you. I mean I LOVE good ketchup, but all day???

Please don't enter me in the give-away. I am trying to pare down and my friends keep buying me gifts. Stop already. Simplify, which I thought YOU were doing a few months ago when you cleaned out your garage? What happened.

Happy day it is GORGEOUS here in Maine too.

Ok, I checked the NYTIMES and they did mention a naked lady doing cartwheels. Should've known!

What a great way to help your son. You're a good Mama.

Where is our bread, meatloaf, and day long ketchup? Jeff's favorite comfort food beyond pasta is meatloaf.

Love,

S

Wow...I am truly amazed by your blog and your life. Every recipe seems to top the last and I once again feel the urge to get back in my kitchen, thank you for that. I live in So Cal so fall can only be seen on the Travel Channel here..lol I've spent hours and hours catch up with your blog, I've never done that with any other blogs I've come across and it makes me want to dust mine off and start again. Although it would pale in comparison, you make it seem fun again. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us and teaching us how to really cook. That Wild Rice Soup is calling my name and yes, please enter me in your give-away, I love Tarot. - Thank you.
