Wreathes

A new wreath.

When my daughter saw the stars I made she requested a retro wreath. I had an old metal wreath frame I used but you could use a Styrofoam, metal, grapevine or even a circle of sturdy cardboard. I bought this glittery white snowflake tinsel garland at the craft store. I laid it against the form and hot glued it in place. Lots of swears involved again!

Then I started adding thrift shop Christmas bulbs. I glued them into place.

I had no idea where I was going with this. It just sort of developed as I went along. I added some small colored bulbs.

My daughter loved the final result!

I also made a real wreath.

I'm not so happy with this one and intend to add to it when i get time. First I glued bulbs in several areas of the wreath but it looked rather lame.

Then I add a lot more bulbs and it is better but still not great. The bow has to go. Sometimes you can see things much better through photographs than you can in person.

I am really busy doing prep work for Thanksgiving. I made my gravy, pie crusts and cranberry sauce this morning. I will show pics of them tomorrow.

Ooh, more ideas. I got inspired by your last wreath post and went to Michael's last night and made my own. You know they didn't have 1 single green poinsettia in the place? Oh well, I think mine turned out ok, it's on my blog if you want to see it.

Maybe I'll try one with the ornaments, I'm just afraid they'll shatter when (not if, when) I drop it...lol

It´s funny how different our Christmas cultures are! When I had my gardencentre I could probably have sold loads of the "real" wreath as it looks in the first photo, but barley a few as it looks in the second one :-) :-) :-)

But by now You know how we swedes are :-) But I do like the first wreath a lot! That one I would hang on my door without hesitation!

We´re having a blizzard over here today and it will continue all night and in to tomorrow, so I´m not sure I´ll make it to work tomorrow.

Have a great day!
Christer.

I LOOOOOVE the vintagey wreath! I hate tinsel, but I have to admit, it looks fantastic as a wreath. I might have to make one of those myself!

I love those! I'm off to the Dollar store to buy what I need. Hopefully I'll be able to find everything.
I love your wreath, both of them. I still need to work on mine.

My cranberry relish is made, pie crust and sweet potato stuff. I was getting ready to do gravy, but maybe I'll wait until I see what you have tomorrow. Ober Cake is almost finished. Pumpkin rolls are finished.

I pity the poor person that bothers me tomorrow!

You must have been reading my mind! I wanted to find either a glittery white, or silvery wreath, and they aren't to plentiful around here this year. .and if I have found one, they are either too big, too small, or poorly constructed. .last night, just before I fell asleep (when either my most brilliant ideas, or the ones so simple that they are slapping me in the face, come to me) It hit me! You made a gorgeous star, I can buy some silver garland and make my own. .imagine my delight when I saw the beginnings of a silvery wreath on your blog today!

I think that your second wreath is very pretty too, but in a whole different way. Our parlor always has the natural greenery with lots of red ornaments. .but you are right. .that bow doesn't gel with the rest of flow. .either none at all, or maybe a plaid of red, green & gold. Do you know how reassuring it is to have you make something that you have to tweak? I was getting an inferiority complex! :-)
I absolutely LOVE your wreaths! Thanks for showing how you created that silver wreath. It reminds me a bit of the silver Christmas tree we had when I was little. I used to LONG for a green tree - but now I think back to how fabulous it really was. :) Theresa

Love the retro wreath! I like the natural one too - the first pic with less bulbs. I know what you mean about figuring things out in pictures though. Sometimes you need to look at something from another angle.

Speaking of which - that last post with Teddy pics was puppy-heaven! Loved it!
