Cherry Bon Bons

These are always a big hit on a cookie tray. Cherry Bon Bons.

December 20th....Gulp!!!!

1-1/4 cups butter, room temperature
2-1/4 cups powdered sugar, divided
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon palmond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
red maraschino cherries with stems

Preheat oven to 350o F. Coat a mini-muffin pan with cooking spray.

In a large mixing bowl beat butter on medium speed . Gradually beat in 1-1/2 cups of powdered sugar, baking powder and salt. Beat in almond extract, vanilla and egg. Beat in the flour using the paddle attachment to your mixture.

Place remaining 3/4 cup powdered sugar in a shallow dish. Shape the dough into 1" balls; roll in powdered sugar. Press each ball into bottom and up sides of muffin cups.

Place cherry stem side up in each cup. Bake about 12 minutes or until pastry is browned. Cool in pan.

Using a knife tip, loosen Bon Bons from cups.

After the dough is in the cups I make an indentation in the middle of the cup with my finger.

Sit the cherries with the stems sticking straight up.

The dough fills in around the cherry as they bake.

Such a good Christmas treat.

These look fabulous! I have just finished my Pecan Cake and Pecan Balls. In other words I have baked my last cookie and cake for this Christmas season. These will be wonderful for Valentine Days.

OOH These looks nice :-) I wonder if we can find those cherries with the stems left. But a stem more or less doesn´t matter :-) :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

Joyce, do you use regular size muffin cups, or the mini size?

And since you are done with your baking, how about you zoom over here and help me finish up mine? Hmmm, didn't think so. .

Thanks for sharing all of these great treats with us! My cookie tray is going to be extra festive this year, thanks to you!
