I made 80 cutout heart sugar cookies yesterday. I am making Valentine's treats for all of my girlfriends. All are single with only one dating so if they don't get something from me for Valentine's Day, they get nothing at all. The Blog Tech said that maybe they need to be fixed up with guys. I told him he has a lot to learn. They need chocolate.
I spent 1o hours baking, cooking and decorating yesterday. By seven o'clock last night these cookies made me want to cry.
I used my sugar cookie recipe from Christmas then lightly frosted the edges with a confectioners sugar glaze and then dipped the edges in assorted sprinkles.
Oofah!
Then I made three trays of triple chocolate brownies.
Later today I will assemble the gifts and show you a pic of them tomorrow.
My daughter was home this weekend so I made brunch for the whole fam. They love french toast and I had a lot of extra sourdough bread so I made sourdough french toast.
I sliced the bread into semi thick slices. Then mixed 8 eggs , 1 cup milk, 1 T. vanilla extract, 3 T. sugar, 3 T. cognac, the zest of one orange and the zest of 1 lemon. Spread the bread on a cookie sheet and pour the mixture over it. Let the bread soak for ten minutes and then turn it over and let it soak 10 minutes more.
Place 3 T. of butter and 1 T. of oil in a heavy nonstick pan. Place some of the slices in the pan and cook over medium heat.
Turn them when they are browned on the bottom.
When they are browned on both sides, remove them from the pan and place on a rack on a cookie sheet in a 180 degree oven. Warm the maple syrup by placing it in the oven with the French toast. I warm the serving plates too.
To serve, place them on a plate and top with a few fresh berries.
Drizzle with maple syrup. These are good anytime but would be great for a Valentine's breakfast in bed.

When my kids were in grade school, I was oftentimes Room Mother for all three classes, because no one else would volunteer, and if no RM, then no parties, so my kids always volunteered me!!
So each year, I would get the class list of names, and would personalize each one in piped icing. I had a long kitchen table, and the whole surface would be covered with lined up with over 100 decorated hearts, setting up, to go into the boxes. So I can relate to what you felt when you were through with your delightful cookies!
But I'm sure that your friends will be SO thrilled to get their treats, and your efforts will be well appreciated.
Way to long since I had french toast! I´ve never had blueberries and Maple syrup with mine. Must think of that next time I make them :-)

I agree with you, blog tech is not quite right, chocolate does do it for nearly every woman..(including me!) :) But, he's young. It takes time. He'll learn being around you!

I have to tell you I assesmbled the ingredients and spent a happy day yesterday making your beef and pasta dish for my husband's birthday. He is very fussy, and an excellent cook himself, and he absolutely loved it. Thanks for sharing- I made some extra of this for my friend.
