Cinnamon Buns

This is the best cinnamon rolls recipe. It is a killer.

Combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of shortening and 2 teaspoons of salt in a bowl. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over it and stir until shortening melts. Set aside to cool.

When it is cool, stir in 2 eggs. I made these on our only cool day and the shortening hardened again.

In the bowl of your mixer, add 1 cup of water and 2 packets of rapid rise yeast. Add the shortening mixture and start to add 6 cups of flour, one cup at a time.

Mix until you incorporate all of the flour.

You should have a nice smooth dough. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover and let rise until doubled.

Once it has doubled, divide it in thirds.

Roll out one ball into a 14 X 10 rectangle.

Spread it with melted butter.

Sprinkle it with cinnamon and sugar which has been combined in a bowl.

Sprinkle it with chopped nuts or leave them out if you wish.

Slice them into about 1 1/4 inch slices. Let them rise until doubled.

Bake them at 375 degrees for about 20-25 degrees until golden brown on the tops.

These smell wonderful. Here they are with nuts.

And without nuts.

Mix some confectioners sugar with milk until you have a smooth consistency.

Drizzle it over the warm rolls. These freeze very well too. I always take a pan of these to parties so the host has something to eat at the end of the night and for breakfast the next morning.

I'd have a party if you brought me these sweet rools.

You must have been reading my mind this morning. It has been raining and storming, and I was thinking of how good some fresh, homemade cinnamon rolls would be to savor, while watching the rain drops fall.

And now look at these gorgeous rolls! I can smell the cinnamon, I swear it! My mouth is watering! How soon can you deliver?

Oh, that does look divine! I think I'll wait until my AC is fixed before I try any baking though.

I do them much the same way but instead of melted butter spread on the inside I use room warm butter. I´ve never used confection sugar on top of them but that looks so yummy! I normally sprinkle them with granulated sugar instead. But I´ll do it Your way next time :-)

Have a great day!
