Swedish Dill Rolls

These are very good rolls!

If you have fresh dill growing in your garden, this is a great way to use some of it. These are perfect rolls to serve with summer meals.

Saute' a diced onion in 2 tablespoons of butter until it softens. Mix in 1/3 cup of cream cheese.

Pour 1/2 cup of water into your mixer bowl. Add 1 tsp. of salt, a beaten egg, 2 1/4 tsp. rapid rise yeast and 1/3 cup of chopped fresh dill.

Add the cream cheese and onion mixture. Add about 3 cups of flour and beat until you have a nice smooth dough.

Place the dough in a greased bowl and allow it to rise until double in bulk.

Nice dough.

Pinch of golf ball sized pieces and place in a greased pan and allow to double again.

Bake at 375 degrees until golden on top.

Remove from the pan and let them cool on a rack.

These make delicious hamburger buns too. Sort of like having your pickle in the bun!

That looks so yummy, thank you for sharing the recipe. I don't have an outdoor garden but I have an herb garden growing in my Aerogarden which is hydroponic. The dill is determined to take over my little unit so it will be dill buns shortly! :-)

Thanks again,

janet

I´ve never done these and I´m swedish :-) But I love dill so this is definitely something I´ll do next time I bake. I think these are great for breakfast or to soak up those last residues of sauce or soup :-)

Have a great day!

Christer.
What a great idea for hamburger buns with the 4th of July just around the corner.

Enough about the rolls. I made the crumble from yesterday this morning and have already eaten 2. The crumbles are a must make.

May I ask what type of mixer you use to knead your dough in? I have just killed another mixer and am in need of a new one and you seem to make so much bread with no problems!!

Thank you.

I don't have dill in the garden (no, I don't know why I screwed up but I did!) so I'm going to try it with some of the others. Sure do look yummy. Thanks for sharing.
