Gingerbread Kringles

This is a recipe for wonderfully tasty and chewy gingerbread cookies.

I am still working on the tree. We got the lights working again.

It was not a bulb that went out but rather an entire extension cord.

There is one Santa on the tree. I won't show you the tangle of new extensions that are hidden at the back of the tree!!!

For the cookies:

Put 3/4 cup of softened butter and 3/4 cup of Crisco in the bowl of your mixer.

Add 2 cups of dark brown sugar and beat until creamy.

Add 2 eggs and beat until smooth.

Add 1/2 cup of molasses.

Beat in 4 teaspoons of baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 4 teaspoons of ginger and 1 teaspoon of ground cloves.

Add 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.

Replace the whisk with your paddle attachment.

Beat in 4 1/2 cups of flour one cup at a time.

Refrigerate the dough for at least 5 hours or overnight.

When you are ready to bake them, line your cookie sheets with parchment paper. Scoop out walnut sized pieces of dough.

Roll them in course sanding sugar.

Bake them at 375 degree for 8-10 minutes.

Make a confectioner sugar glaze and drizzle it across the tops as seen in the first photo.

Glad you figured out the lights. Your jumble can't be worse than my jumble behind my entertainment center from the tv, cable box etc. These cookies sound delicious and I think I am going to try them. I even have molasses in my pantry, although it is pomegranate molasses. xo

I wonder if that's the same cookie we have over here. Ours is slightly bigger and we don't have any sugar or decorating sugar on them.

But they are delicious and chewy and many of us love to spread butter on them and eat them with a strong cheese.

I'm glad the lights works again! That tree is beautiful!

Have a great day!
Christer.
These look yummy...beautiful tree (it does look like snow and icycles-sp are dripping off it) and love the way you used your old ornaments for decorating outdoors but I agree with some others...please don't toss em...donate to your thrift store...folks LOVE old ornaments and will keep em out of the over-burdened post holiday landfill! :)
So glad Teddy girl is feeling better and looking fabulous!!
Oh Yum! Gingerbread Cookies. What would Christmas be without gingerbread! I think I'm doing pretty good until I read your blog. Then I feel like I should give up and check into the old folks home.

These look yummy! And, of course, the tree is fabulous! I wish we had one in our barn, but it would never stand a chance with Ella. We are doing good to still have our greenery with the red ribbon. Oy.
