Macaroni and Cheese with Sausage

It was a cold snowy day yesterday so I made The Blog Tech some mac and cheese.

Melt 1/4 cup of butter in a heavy pot. Add 1/4 cup of flour and cook it for a few minutes to cook away the floury taste. Slowly pour in 2 1/2 cups of milk. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Add 2 1/2 cups of cheese. I used cheddar. You can add whatever you like.

For added flavor, I pureed some of my oven roasted tomatoes and Turkish roasted peppers. This was about 3/4 cup of puree. Cook over low heat until the cheese is melted and everything is blended together.

Top with some sliced smoked sausage. I used Lit'l Smokies. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

This is also good with breakfast links.

We had snow on the ground this morning! Maybe it's the last gasp of winter?

heh

I know better. We'll see more snow before winter is done with us.

Love your additions! Looks very tasty. this winter has been too snowy for regular dog walks so I have put on a few more lbs. Must begin to shed a few before the snow melts. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

How fun :-) I did almost the same thing over here today :-) :-) :-) What is it that makes this so tasty?

Have a great day!

So yummy looking. This is probably a dumb question, but at what point do you add the macaroni? I need everything spelled out for me. I've never even made macaroni and cheese that didn't come from Kraft. Okay, I know, I know. I'm so bad.

Such a perfect combination! And it is perfect comfort food for a cold March day like it is here today.

How do you people stay so slender? Daily marathons? Or are you just blessed with fast metabolisms and never gain weight?

I don't care if it is 75 degrees here today, that looks wonderful. I eat mac and cheese year round.

Mac and cheese; aaaah. Love that combo and really prefer making my own rather than Kraft's. That said, I can't seem to NOT have a box on the shelf (No, not the same box!) so it must get used; no? This sounds delicious and is only missing the wine I must include. Yummy. I'm sure Blog Tech was thrilled -- I certainly would be.
