My puppy is sick again. About 3-4 weeks ago she refused to be groomed. And, believe me, when Teddy doesn't want to do something, there is no way in hell you can get her to do it. No amount of coaxing or treats works.
I thought she had developed another UTI infection so we had the vet put her on strong antibiotics. They cleared up the chronic irritation she has had around her eyes since the surgeries. But, I think they also killed off all the good flora and fauna around the no fly zone. The vet said she has a raging fungal infection in that area. Ewww and ouch!
She would not let the vet examine her. So, we had to take her back yesterday to be sedated so they could shave her and get a better look. They said they gave her enough of the sedative knock any dog out. She acted like nothing was happening and would not let anyone near her. Finally my husband turned her over to them and left the room. I don't even want to know what happened next. She was back out in 2 minutes and they said they did all they could but she refused to cooperate. They could not give her any more sedation so that was that. Once she got outside and relaxed a bit, the medication started to work. She was very disoriented and actually fell over a few times. It was soooo sad.
As you can see, she is not looking too happy. She had to sleep in the garden room because we were afraid she would fall on the stairs. She is still groggy this morning.
She is taking pain pills, antibiotics, anti fungals and we are supposed to soak the no fly zone in a tub with medicated shampoo once a day. Good luck on that one.
I am hoping and praying she is back to her old self soon and smiling.
And running around guarding her yard since it feels like summer out there.
Maybe tonight I will build her a Teddy fire with all the gathered twigs. Teddy and I love having fires in the evening. My girl has had a tough year.

I do hope she will be alright again very soon! I think it is this warm winter that makes it easier for these fungal infections to get to them, Orvar has one too but just around his eyes now, Thankfully he's a bit easier to handle :-) :-)
Christer.
I wish it was warmer here. It's chilly and I have another cold. =(
She must be strong willed to have that reaction to sedatives, wow.
I'm sorry you're having such a hard time, I know how you love her.
Cheers!
So sorry!!
Another suggestion...can you soak a cloth in cool water mixed with a good yoghurt and just gently bathe bottom? Also, final note. When is her birthday? if she is a mutable sign-gemini, sag, virgo or pisces the worst should have peaked with the full moon. there may be one more incident as the moon squares the lunation around14-15 Mar but then she should start feeling better. Hope some of this helps. Sandy
