Sandwiches and a Bit of Bling

My daughter is home for the weekend which means she will have friends at her house....hungry friends. I make all kinds of food for them but I really like having an assortment of sandwiches so they can grab them and go.

First I made roast beef sandwiches. I love using full grain mustard. I spread some on rye bread.

I bought horseradish cheddar cheese which goes so well with the roast beef.

Pile it high with the thinly shaved beef.

Top it with some Swiss cheese.

I tell the kids to warm them just before eating to bring out the flavor.

I also made Buffalo chicken sandwiches. This time I used a Russian whole grain mustard which is slightly sweet.

I spread on some of my oven roasted tomatoes.

I layered some roasted sliced chicken, Buffalo cheddar cheese and ham. These will be grilled before serving.

Sorry for the blur but it is really hard taking one handed photos of your left hand. I decided my injured paw needed some bling to make it feel better. Plus, Monday is my 60th birthday. I am officially old. So some bling was definitely in order. This ring is by one of my favorite designers, Stephen Webster. He designed a line called The 7 Deadly Sins. It is fabulous! Click here to see the collection: http://rantchick.com/stephen-websters-seven-deadly-sins-ring-collection/

This is called the 'thorn claw ring' from his Thorn Collection. It is a faceted clear rhinestone held in place by black enamel and diamond claws. Look at my swollen fingers! I will have to get this sized down when the swelling goes away.

Nice huh?

My hand might be bent this way for a while even when the brace comes off!

Slightly better photo! Happy birthday me! 60....wow!!!!

Happy Birthday, Joyce! A Taurus, no wonder you cook and entertain like a dream! And make life absolutely wonderful for your family and friends. Nice blingy ring. I will check out that site. I think sandwiches are the ultimate comfort food, almost better than a 3-course meal! Have a wonderful birthday weekend. xo

Happy Birthday! The Goatmother will be 60 this year. We try not to tell her she is old because then she might not give us any Peanuts. Your ring is lovely. It somehow reminds me of a little frog. :)

Happy birthday, Joyce! I, too, am a Taurus, with my birthday coming on Wednesday! Just a bit older, however. Our first child was born on my 33rd birthday, and she will be 39. I'll let you do the math.:)
Sounds like a marvelous choice of sandwiches for those guests at your house!
I continue to send along wishes for speedy healing with that hand!

Happy Birthday, Joyce! I can tell you from experience that 60 in wonderful! And no 60 year young woman should celebrate that milestone without bling - way to go! Don't worry if your hand is bent like the when the cast comes off - the physical therapist will fix it (this also spoken from experience)! Have a great day tomorrow!
Cheers!

I agree with Beverly - because I'm 62 and 60 really is the new 40. Anyway, love the bling on your finger. So sorry about your booboo though. Okay, now on to food. Please make all my sandwiches from now on. Thanks!

I'm late on the birthday wishes, Joyce, but they are heartfelt, nonetheless. Thank God, the ladies have clarified that 60 is the new 40 -- that helps in my own age calculations. We cougars have to use whatever tools are at hand. Speaking of hand, Lordy, what a contraption. Sleeping must be a whole new experience. Hugs.
