A Fall Trip and Teddy's New Friends

We headed north again last Saturday searching for all things Fall.  I found more pie pumpkins.  Click on any photos to enlarge them for a better look.

This house was selling the pumpkins they grew.

This is Teddy's favorite part of the trip.  She likes seeing all of the "big puppies".

She jumps up in the window and cries the funniest cry.

It was raining for the first time in a very long time and you could see the mist rising like a sigh from the parched ground.

Teddy likes this guy a whole lot too.  I think he is an emu and I am not sure he is a he.

But he follows our car as far as he can and keeps a close eye on us.

When I pulled into the farm stand I spotted these.

We went to a smokehouse which also drove Teddy a bit crazy. Smoked beef bones, jerky, Canadian bacon, sliced ham for sandwiches, bacon and maple sausage.

I found these which I have not seen since I was a little kid.  Kielbasa steaks.  These get pan fried and served on buns with sauteed onions.  You can buy cheese or plain.

And smoked cheeses.  I bought smoked Provolone.

Oops!  These sneaked in here, out of order.  i got another one of these special order cuffs from the UK.  This one has pumpkins and reads:  Tis now the very witching time of night, when churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out Contagion to this world.

I bought this one just for fun.  Fight like a girl.

I found some Aged smoked Provolone for grating.

More candy onions. I can't get enough of these this summer.

Some hard to find apples.  The apple harvest really suffered because of this year's drought.

And beautiful Indian corn.

These are the pumpkins I found for the shrine.

Teddy likes them a lot.  She looks like the forth pumpkin.

She looked at the small ones and gave me a look as to ask, are these multiplying?

She decided she is now the pumpkin guard.  I hope no young kids try to steal any of them or they are in for trouble.

I also found a new spatula.

So many nice things :-) I wish we had more of those places over here but the laws are so ridicules hard on selling things from ones own farm/garden that most people give up.
I wish we had any pumpkins too :-) They are not the most grown crops here :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

Saturday at noon my favorite pumpkin farm is to open. After viewing your globes of orange and white I now cannot wait. The pumpkin farm I visit has the most extensive varity of pumpkins I have ever seen. Pumpkins covered with warts are my favorite...must be the inner witch in me! Teddy certainly seems to enjoy her outings, I marvel at the wonderful meals you prepare for her, Winslow Homer is so jealous. I hope you are enjoying this beautiful late summer day. BTW, here in Maine there is a bumper crop of apples and picking began three weeks early...go figure! Greetings, Julie.

Grat pictures. And you remind me that I haven't eaten an apple in ages. Maybe THE autumnal fruit.

Candy onions!!! Never had one. Must have one.....
The "Fight Like A Girl" cuff.... It has all that, on it? Or is it simply placed in front of the broom/witch/cat? :-)

Everywhere you went shopping, on that rainy day.... They must have been very glad to see you. I'm sure a rainy weekend day, was not good for business. But you came!!!!! :-)
