Amish Country

We headed north early on Saturday to visit Amish country.

An Amish barn.

A cow farm.

You have to be careful passing the buggies.

It was a perfect Fall day, gloomy, cool and drizzling.

Pumpkins for sale everywhere.  Click on any photos to enlarge them.

This trip was so much fun.  All the shops were open in the village and almost all the homes had some sort of sale going on.

Pumpkins and cider and mums.

An Amish lawn swing.

I bought lots of apples and fresh eggs from this booth.

Decorations were everywhere.

Two vintage beetles.  The first car I ever owned was one of these.  The floor was rusted out and when I drove through puddles my feet got wet.  It drove like a lawn mower.

People buying pumpkins.

Machines doing machinery things.

A horse drawn firetruck.

An Amish farm.

Teddy liked the goats a lot.

And the "big puppies" (cows).

Nice pumpkin!

There were lots of roadside stands. I bought the last summer tomatoes, more candy onions and a bushel of apples.

The colors are just beginning to show.

The clouds began to break up and show a beautiful blue sky.

Another Amish buggy.

A raccoon hat and straw Amish hats and bonnets for sale.

What a beautiful post. I love the Amish country. They are such wonderful people and the best farmers in the world.

Such a lovely choice of pumpkins! For some reason the Amish always remind of the movie Warlock.

We really need something like this over here! Halloween has never really become a big thing here but surley we must have something to celebrate even here in this dark rainy country :-)

It's something in the Amish way of life I like, but I would never fit in, I have troubles living like other people tell me to :-) :-) :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

Glad you found Autumn!
Did you get the raccoon hat for the Blog Tech? He would look awesome!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. When we lived in Louisville, we took a fall week-end trip up to the Ohio Amish country, such a pretty area.

What a great trip!
Your kind of trip, especially with the cool weather. Bet those eggs are good. Did you see that pumpkin on TV that broke the one ton mark? YOu could build a summerhouse in there!

I love this post cause I love Amish country so much. I have only been to LAncaster County though. What county is this? town? I need to mapquest this from my house on Long Island. Love all that you buy. We shop the same! Love, Maggie
I have wanted to visit this part of the country all my life. I visited a friend in connecticut about six years ago and we traveled from her home to New Hampshire where my brother lives. My husbands brother lives in Maine. Portland. We own a home in Bucks Harbor and it's so beautiful there.
I love the East Coast...but the winters, are so cold. What beautiful photo's. What a great trip! Thanks for sharing.
It was almost like being there.
Hugs,
Mona
I went to Amish country many many years ago and it seems that nothing has changed - how wonderful. Thanks for sharing these lovely photos.

Loved the pictures! Those were some cute goats!
My Rare One is fascinated by this reality show that she's watching which features 4 Amish teenagers living in New York City and trying to make a go of it among the English. Their parents are not pleased, of course.
