Grown Up Grilled Cheese

I made some sandwich bread a few days ago and made the gang these grilled cheese sandwiches.

Spread the bread with a bit of dijon mustard.  Top with some good smokey ham, thinly sliced pears, fresh spinach and thinly sliced sharp cheddar.

I used Double Gloucester.  The key to these is a good sharp cheddar.  Grill in a cast iron pan over medium heat until the bread is browned and the cheese has melted.

Grown up grilled grilled cheese just sounded wrong!

I would have made some now but I have too little cheese at home. I should never break the habit of grocery shopping on my way home on Fridays :-)

Have a great day!

LOL I have to agree, grown up sounds better than adult grilled cheese! This looks like a perfect sammie though, It's something I know I'd love.
Yeah, "adult" grilled cheese sounds like it should be wearing fishnet stockings and a diaphanous negligee.
Oh yum. Love adding the pears. Looks so good.

Best grilled cheese I ever had was in Hawaii of all places - it was brie, pears and ham with pecans on challah toast. Mmmmmmmmm

Mmm, that looks like good Sunday food to me. A little weekend treat! :)
I know fruit goes great with cheese..this HAS to be one great toasted cheese sandwich!! Wow!
So creative!!!

That creative thinking. That's what I come up short on. -pout-

But you are here, to give us ideas.

Yeah, "ADULT" Grill Cheese doesn't sound right. Hey, you Search most anything "Adult", and you get the X-rated version. -grin-
