French Onion Dip Recipe

Hi!  I am Teddy and I want to show you what my mama has been making.  She has been very busy.

I am feeling neglected.  Don't I look neglected to you?

Hey everyone!  Sorry I did not post yesterday.  I was in Ikea hell.  I was thrilled when I placed my order because it went so smoothly.  That was, until delivery occurred.  Good lord!  They sent a bunch of wrong parts with a delivery/installation service they contract with.  These guys let me know fast that Ikea's mistake was not their responsibility.  I was responsible for returning all of the mistakes and making everything right.  Oh, and, they are also not responsible for carrying away all of the boxes and Styrofoam that was now scattered all over the house.  But that's okay, because after 4 hours at Ikea and now knowing almost every employee on a first name basis, things seem to be resolved.  I won't know until Friday when the final installation is done.  Why do I feel like this is not going to go smoothly?

Anyway,  between Ikea issues I am cooking like crazy for my daughter's event.  Did you know that you can caramelize onions in a slow cooker?  It works perfectly!  I peeled 9 pounds of onions and then sliced them in my food processor.

Put them in the slow cooker.

Top them with some pats of butter and some sprigs of thyme. Cover and set the slow cooker on low and let them cook for 10-12 hours.

Perfect caramelized onions.  You can freeze them to use later if you make a bunch at one time.

I mixed them into some cream cheese, sour cream and mayonnaise with salt and pepper for an excellent French onion dip for 150 people!

Well, there's an idea.

I think you should send Ikea a bill for your time
Yikes! Just what you needed (NOT) right now! Ikea issues!!!

Mmmm, more and more I'm coming to wonder about something I heard of recently... Crisis Energy, this time of year....

Wow, can carmalize onions in slow cooker! Super! Oh how I love, love, love Onion Dip. And I'm sure YOURS would be even more delicious. 'Cause I'd not have all that deeeeeelicious butter in the onions.

Hehhhhhhh, why am I sounding as if I am not kidding myself/everyone? I'd use dry Onion Soup mix. -chuckle- I can HEAR you screaming, all the way over here. -giggggles-
And I just got a call, about another weird problem, someone is having... This is the second ugh-thing I've heard of around this area. And you, with Ikea issues....

Crisis Energy.... Ever hear of it?
ohhhhhhhhhhhh that looks good Teddy,
Did you get a bite?
That slow cooker idea is gold!

Like the good old days :-) Nothing was ever right when buying things from IKEA when I grew up :-) Wrong parts, more parts than needed and nothing fitted even if they actually were the right parts :-) :-) :-)

But I have to admit that they have become much better now days. Yes send a bill to them for the time You wasted :-)

I'm trying to remember when I had dip the last time but come to think of it I don't think I've ever have :-)

Poor neglected Teddy :-)Her sad face just screams how bad things are :-) :-) :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

Poor, poor poor Teddy. SOooooo neglected!! (yea, right!!lol)

I have never been to an Ikea, they don't have them around here. Sounds like a miserable experience.

that onion dip sounds super. I have only ever had the old California onion dip with the Lipton soup. I know, I should hang my head in shame!

Hi Teddy! I can't even tell you how badly I want some of that dip right now!

I know, I think IKEA is hell... it's so hard to figure out how to get out of there, you feel like mice in a maze, like some giant people are looking down watching our movements and monitoring our behavior!
Are you SURE your real name is not "Wonder Woman?" :) The things you can do in a kitchen is absolutely amazing.
Ahhh Teddy! Such a joy and no Teddy, you do NOT look one bit neglected. :)
Joyce, I'm pleased you liked my very true story. Folks are so kind on here that even if they were skeptical they didn't say so. It's hard sometimes to override reason when something doesn't add up. One way or the other, I admit it rattled my cage.

p.s. I have never bought anything from Ikea..I deal with Amazon..but Ikea is a different ball game I think. I HOPE it all turns out alright. Something like that is so frustrating!!

Slow cookers are a real time saver at times. Man! What delicious dip!

Never had any Ikea experience, but it certainly sounds like yours was among those that would be referred to as less than perfect!

Take care of yourself!
