Pigs for Puppies and Humans

Teddy was introduced to a new treat recently, organic pigs ears.

She asked what took me so long to find these tasty morsels.

Talk about keeping a puppy busy for a while!

Christmas came a little early for Teddy this year.  Does anyone volunteer to take it away from her?

This is The Blog Tech and his girlfriends favorite sandwich.....a Cubano.

These sandwiches can get very involved as I have shown before.  This recipe is a much less complicated version.  Brush pork tenderloins with dijon mustard, honey, s&p and some oregano.  Roast it in a 375 degree oven until it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees.  Let the pork sit for about 15 minutes before carving.

Slice the tenderloins into very thin slices.

Return them to the roasting pan and toss in the leftover sauce.

Split some hoagie buns.  I made homemade but you can buy them if you want.

Spread them with yellow mustard.

Drain some sliced dill pickles.  Lay them on paper towels to absorb their juice.

Pile on slices of pork, thinly sliced ham and Swiss cheese.  Spread the outside of the buns with butter and place them in a heavy pan.  Put a plate on top of them and weight it down.  Cook until the cheese melts and the buns are browned on the outside.

Wrapped and on their way to Lara and The Blog Tech.

I remember the BT and his lady did a taste comparison in Key West, and you won hands down!! A favorite sammie of mine too, also if you can find Cuban bread or rolls in the supermarket it is really delish, slightly sweet. xo

Dogs do love pig ears but I read somewhere that they are a very high fat treat. Jeez, poor piggies -- even their ears are fat!

That sandwich sure looks good. Have you heard from Bev this morning? I hope she had a good night in her bed with her puppies. And the scarves you knit for her.

I don't even pork very often, but I'd love to try a cubano.

Hi Joyce, I enjoyed my garden walk with dear Teddy. Thank you for updating us in regards to Bev. I hope she is resting comfortably, surrounded with the people she loves and love her. Your home looks so lovely, very festive for the holiday season. Winslow Homer has never had a pig's ear, his favorite treat is dried organic chicken. Once again you have served us with another great meal, I certainly wish I lived closer! Greetings my friend, Julie.

Those sandwiches does look delicious!

No I would not volunteer to take that ear from Teddy :-) :-) :-) My pack gets pigs ears if they aren't smoked. It seems smoked food of any kind makes them fart something incredible :-) :-) :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.
