Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf

I bought ground meat at a very good price and made a rare treat for the shelter....meatloaf!

First I made a huge pot of gravy.

I strained out the solids and ended up with 14 quarts.

The meatloaf was a combination of ground beef, pork, Italian sausage and lots of vegetables.  You can find the recipe here:  http://octoberfarm.blogspot.com/2010/11/meatloaf-to-die-for.html

To make them a bit fancy I topped them with a lattice of bacon.
I also made an avalanche of mashed potatoes and immediately forgot to take a photo.  I've never made so many mashed potatoes in my life.  I could hardly stir them. I made about 20 quarts.

Aren't they cute?  And huge?  Each one had 10 pounds of meat along with all the other ingredients.  They are sitting on large cookie sheets and they barely fit.

Now that is a meatloaf.  I made three. They took 3 -1/2 hours to bake.
And 6 loaves of bread.  I took it there for lunch today which is when the shelter feeds the main meal.  I also made another huge batch of banana pudding which I also forgot to photograph.  There were lots of happy guys when The Blog Tech and I walked in there this morning.

Love the lattice bacon topping. I bet the shelter looks forward to your deliveries.

Ps I keep telling the men folk here of your bat mobile but I can't remember the type of car you have.

That is the most magnificent meatloaf I have ever seen, but more more amazing is the woman who made this wonderful meal, I cannot imagine how you manage to produce the quality, balanced & beautiful homemade meals you do, usually with a staff of 1. I bet the guys at the shelter jaws will drop when they see what's on the menu for lunch today. Joyce - you have outdone yourself.

Your lunch looks like a meal fit for a king. It all looks better than a picture, but can only imagine, all relishing each bite, with genuine gratitude.

You are one gifted lady, who shares them, with others. What a beautiful thing.

That meatloaf makes me think of the British cooking show "Two Fat Ladies." They wrapped EVERYTHING in bacon, LOL!
