Garden Patrol

My daughter sent me these tulips for Mother's Day and they still have not quite opened.  Thank you sweet daughter.  It must be weird to have a mother who hates Mother's Day but you try to cheer me up anyway!
The honeysuckle is just about to open.  It is going to smell glorious and the bees will be all over it.

The dogwoods are still blooming.  Click on any of the pics to enlarge them.

Here are some of the strawberries I planted recently.  These things are growing like crazy. It always amazes me how plants react when you plant them in the right spot.

Teddy charges down to check things out.

All clear here mama...no bad kitties.

No matter how fast I walk down the steps, Teddy always beats me to the bottom.  She knows all the shortcuts.

We went down to 29 degrees last night so I covered the tender plants.  They all look fine today.

I lost 2 fig trees over the winter but 3 others are leafing out.  I hope I get lots of figs.  I love eating figs right off the tree when they have been warmed by the sun.

Who knew fish could be happy?  My fish are literally playing with each other ever since the waterfalls have been turned on. They swim over and under each other and are very active.

After Teddy checks every nook and cranny, she starts the climb back up to the main house.

 Sometimes she takes the steps.

Here she is playing Goldilocks.  She has to stop and take a drink at each pond just to see which one is the best.

Like a fine wine, each pond has it's own unique flavor.  At least this is what she tells me. I don't make a habit of drinking from the ponds.

She always makes a point of stopping on each of the stepping stones while crossing the creek.

See the jumbo paw pushing off the stone?

The Mock Oranges should bloom by this weekend.

I adore tulips. And that honeysuckle should smell like nothing short of heaven...like the wisteria only different. heh
You have a very thought daughter!

I can't wait for my honeysuckle and mock orange to blossom, the smells are intoxicating!

Have a great day! I'm off to educate!

I think my daughter sent the same flowers. Mine didn't last long. She sends some from the same company every year and they don't last long but it is the thought that counts. I am sorry that Mothers Day is not a fun day for you. Teachers need to be careful. It's like asking kids to bring in baby pictures when they don't have any because they were adopted as an older child.
I love your witch's garden. That Teddy is so much fun watching guarding his territory. Have a good week.

beautiful gardens, and beautiful tulips, I think your daughter must love Mother's Day, she has a great Mom! You do so much for your kids,
Teddy is really stocky built isn't she, she must leave a big print. She reminds me so much of a Panda for some reason of course the first reaction is a Teddy Bear but for some reason she makes me think Panda, her postures are so regal, she always looks so well groomed and clean,

I believe that your daughter understands why you feel the way that you do about Mother's Day, Jaz.

More wonderful photos of paradise...thank you~
Those fish are probably getting up to "hijinks" in that pond. Nudge nudge wink wink.

You have such thoughtful kids!!! I can't wait for the mock orange to bloom. We had a few nights like that two weeks ago. I hope they are over or I'll be busy covering things!
Peaceful and lovely... What a bower you have constructed.

Beautiful and I know, it's been mighty cool. Hopefully it hasn't done too much damage to anything. Looking forward to seeing the Mock oranges in bloom!
You being HER mother makes Mother's Day special to her..and that's what it's all about. :)
The tulips are beautiful..and the gardens are lush and green and inviting! *sigh*
i understand why you feel that way about Mother's Day.

my mother divorced my Dad before I was a year old. took me to illinois, then allowed him to take me to Florida. she was supposed to come get me. she did not.

oh it is a long story. but i got past it, late in life.

lovely tulips.

Teddy is so special.
